Giroud is at Arsenal for physical presence in a team that lacks it. I don't know if non-British managers have anything specifically against Irish (or Scottish or Welsh) players but they tend to rate them less. Whether it's cultural or that they're just not as good, I don't know.

Coleman was (is?) capable of playing at a bigger club than Everton but so was Baines, just never happened for either and probably won't at this stage. Robbie Keane did move to big clubs like Inter, Liverpool and even Leeds in their pomp, obviously none of them worked out fully for various reasons. Tottenham are a very big club as well anyway and allowed him to flourish, so I don't think he'll have too many regrets on that score. Duff pretty much reached the pinnacle with a brilliant Chelsea team, even if it was relatively short-lived. I think the majority our players have more or less reached the level their ability deserved, one or two may have even exceeded their natural talent to some degree, arguably O'Shea, Whelan and even Walters to name a few. Given and Dunne are probably the stand out guys who could or should have spent more time with top sides alright.

The Guardian's live transfer deadline day blog is mentioning the following: "With Derby set to sell Jeff Hendrick, they might dip into the market. Huddersfield’s Sean Scannell is a potential target. Sheffield Wednesday are also interested."
Didn't realise he was doing so well as to attract the attention of two of the divisions heaviest hitters.
McGeady to Preston being mentioned.

confirmed. Season long loan.

I am just utterly amazed that Brady can't get a move to a Premier League team, Hull & Burnley are the only teams to show interest in Hendrick, McCarthy can't attract concrete offers, Coleman still at Everton.
Even Darron Gibson. Does his previous form at Everton count for nothing, even as a squad player? I mean he was one of Everton's best players when he was fit - and he's been fit for over 6 months now.
I mean you even look at Shane Long at Southampton, and Koeman had nothing to do with his signing.
Foreign managers in the PL BARELY ever sign Irish players. And this is going to become a major issue in the next few years with more money available to spend frivolously on overrated players from around Europe, continued foreign takeovers and managers like Slaven Bilic becoming the norm.
The only way Irish players will get moves to Premier League in the future is if they go up from the Championship, where they can get by with the reputation of grafters.
I mean, you look at the players who are guaranteed starters and it's Whelan (32), Walters (33), Coleman (27), Delaney (35), Ward (31), Hendrick (24), O'Shea (35) and Arter (26).
Eight players and three of them in their twenties. Two of them come up from Championship - one as a promoted player and one to a promoted team.
David Meyler has started every game for Hull but I don't see him as a guaranteed starter for them once every one is fit and available.
I guess you could make an argument for McClean or Long. They have a lot to prove this season, especially Long under a new manager.

Crystal Palace, West Brom and Sunderland were understood to have been vying for his services.
Pardew, Pulis, Moyes.
It's almost beyond parody at this stage how the only clubs that show the slightest bit of interest in an Irish player are managed by British managers.
Maybe McCarthy, Coleman and Brady wouldn't attract offers from messrs Bilic and Mazzarri even if their names were McCarthinho, Ceulemans and Bradi.
I doubt it though.

Keane has played a few blinders against Arsenal in the past.
You kind of answered your own question there.
As for the other players you mention, only Coleman could've been or could be a regular at Arsenal imo.
Given wasn't a marked improvement on Jens Lehmann. Dunne was shy of the calibre required and Doyle just wasn't good enough. The idea of the latter playing for Arsenal was laughable.

Well Dunne was POTY four times in a row at Man City (all in the Premier League).
I'd argue he was coming in to his peak in or around the 2006-2007 season.
Arsenal's defenders were Gallas, Toure, Senderos and Djourou.
Gallas was a better player than Dunne, but I'd argue he was better than Toure, and I firmly believe he was better than Senderos and Djourou - the latter who got a decent bit of game time for them.

It's irrelevant because while Djourou and Senderos were bang average they were a) Arsenal youth players Wenger had trained to play his way, and b) they were passing centre halves whose instinct was always to play it out, which Dunne never was. Same as Joe Hart - he's a better goalkeeper than Claudio Bravo but it's kind of moot when he can't do what the coach wants from a goalkeeper.

Dunne got those awards in a City side that were mid to lower half of the table. Arsenal, as we all know, were in the top four.
Besides that, he just wasn't good enough with the ball at his feet to play for Arsenal, who were in the beginnings of their Barcelona-lite phase at the time. I don't think it would've helped the national side either if he wasn't starting week in, week out.

A lot go with their own too though. Same as wegner at Arsenal, the English or British managers go for British, and less so Irish players. It could just be as simple as that.
So hendrick gets rewarded for his performances at the Euros with a move, would brady have been let go at £10mil was anyone even interested, we heard very little about Leceister, and the skinny grant mitchell suggested there were no proper bids in for him. Brady scored 2 goals in the Euros, and played very well. What more can he do? I don't like the 42 but they had a good argument about academy players from bigger clubs who are let go and have an unfair advantage over those plying their trade in the championship and lower leagues. I am aware Brady doesn't really fall into the argument but when you look at some of the players that they mentioned, its pretty clear there seems to be some bias towards those who started at the bigger clubs.

LIke save shots and taht kinda stuff. A mate once said something similar in that wing backs in Gaelic football don't need to defend. The priority first and foremost for a defender should always be to defend, and for a goalkeeper to make saves.

Precisely (although Hart has developed a knack of not saving shots either). Guardiola has been pretty open at all of his clubs saying he wants his goalkeeper to be the first playmaker in the team. Hart's more talented than Bravo (and a lot more talented than Caballero, who's been ahead of him thusfar) but if he can't pass the ball reliably then he's not much good to his manager. Likewise, as you say, some teams play with wing backs because their full backs can't defend well enough.
