So now that we have reached the break in the season I am interested to see what people think so far obviously results and position wise you would be mental to have too much wrong to say but there are still things to think about.

Who do ye reckon is our best player?
Anyone surprise you with how well they have done?
Anyone been a let down?
What changes would you make if any?
What would you be looking to sign in the window in July?

Throw any thoughts you have about the season so far in here will be interesting to see just how impressed people are and if there is any interesting thoughs on where to improve.

I'll get the ball rolling and answer myself, always thought I knew my stuff anyway :p.

I think while O'Flynn is scoring all the goals the last few weeks has shown that Shane Duggan is our best and most important player the whole level of play just dropped as soon as he was gone.

I've been pleasantly surprised with Stephen Kenny in pre season I didn't think he looked like much but he has been great so far in creating chances and goals for us I'd love an actual count of how many goals he has been involved in.

I can't think of one off the top of my head that has been a let down.

Changes id make is to tighten up a bit its great to watch our style of play and its fine winning the mad scored we have been but I think we need to be staying sharp at the back for when we come up against the premier teams in cups we have a real chance now of getting a good cup run and getting to a final id hate to see stupid mistakes cost us that.

We need a keeper now in July with Freddy out long term other than that id be filling out the squad.

John O'Flynn is the best striker I have ever seen play for us.

Wouldn't be fully sold on Kenny doesn't do the right thing often enough and I think he'd struggle in the premier.

Paul O'Connor needs to up his game.

Robbie Williams has been excellent.

Chris Mulhall is a worker and a half but he's not a number ten.

Look this year is all about preparing for next year. Last night was an important game in that regard because you need an idea of where you are at.

Was there anyone on that bench that you would have in the squad next season?

First team is carrying one or two players that won't be good enough as well.

Don't get me wrong it's been fun though. :good:

You would hope now that July is used to plan for next season we may as well get lads in now that will stick around next season we have no need for first division standard players til the end of the season.

O Flynn has been awesome, considering there were warnings about him been injury prone but I've not seen a better finisher for limerick. Kenny is exciting but end product is poor, not a great crosser and poor finisher. Paudie is awesome and with a legit experienced centre half beside him we could tighten up at the back.
The loss of Duggan is so obvious and another midfielder is a must in the transfer window. As already mentioned you can see how poor we're playing without him. Great fun all the same this season and the market's Field is a magical venue on a good night. Atmosphere is always good. So far so good this season.

Does anyone know about the news that will be announced in the next few weeks supposedly exciting news with the club on live95fm today. I'm presuming it might be an investment in the club???

I know he's young and I shouldn't be overly critical but Paudie was poor last night, 4 or 5 bad mistakes. Drogheda's equalizer and lead goal being prime examples( and I'm not forgetting the howler from Holland) but Paudie should have prevented that and the Drog's lead goal.

Duggan is a huge loss, and Lynch can't carry the midfield by himself, so yes a centre mid is needed in the window, as is a keeper. Holland is too young.

I actually think Robbie has been a lot better than Paudie this season at CB and i'm not slagging off Paudie I haven't seen a centre back in the league yet that I think looks anwyhere near as good as Robbie.

Considering the last big announcement was for " honoury President " I wouldn't hold my breath. Pats probably inviting John delaney out for a pint to discuss the Celtic / Milan situation.

O'Flynn has obviously been the star but I'd agree that Robbie Williams has also been excellent as has Greene when fit.

I'm surprised at how good O'Flynn has been, I expected him to be very good but he's been terrific.

I don't want to be overly picky because he is young but I've been a little disappointed with Paudie O'Connor. He hasn't been a let down but he's not pushed on either. He seems a bit complacent at times to my eyes and I hope he doesn't go down that road. I've seen other guys burst onto the scene and never really kick on from there before and I hope he develops into the player he could be.

I wouldn't change much to be honest, not much point in throwing money at that team given the results. I would look for a keeper alright. Holland isn't there yet. Other than that... you could add a player or two but I just don't think it's necessary really and probably not the best use of resources at that stage.

In a very minute crib, the website isn't what it was. They've been slow to get match reports at times, there's only a handful on the first team squad page and the club colours link is to our 2012 kit. It's not a huge deal obviously but it's a bit sloppy at the same time.

It's hard to find anything to be critical about, relative to the quality of the league. Limerick are miles ahead of the other seven, and it wouldn't take the addition of all that much - a quality centre back, some cover from the midfield and upfront - for them to be reasonably competitive in the Premier.

If there was a worry it'd be that the club might be spending too much considering the Division, but the crowds have been good. Better than they were for much of last year.

No doubt we are still relying on Pat but crowds are well ahead of what the club had projected which is great.

We're doing grand and will be promoted easily.

The only thing that would be a problem is if Russell thinks that squad, as it is now, is good enough to survive in the premier. I'd like to think he knows the defence in particular is nowhere near solid enough.

But we've talked about that before on here - let's wait and see what players are brought in between now and the start of next season.

As linked to in the main LOI forum, Jordan Moore has left the club and has some choice things, and frankly, lunatic things,to say about his stay in Limerick:

Well he seems to be implying he is the only player in the whole squad that received payments late. He also claims a box of cornflakes cost £5 so I'd take everything in the interview with a massage dose of salt.

Also afaik the burger van is not owned by limerick Fc. It's a private enterprise that leases the space on match nights. Their certainly not going to hand over cash or even loose change to a limerick player as wages. His claims make absolutely no sense.

A comment on the original article (I added some paragraph breaks):

I actually had to read this twice. Never in my life have a read such a fictitious and libelous article. Knowing the Herald can only report what they have been told, I find myself completely aghast at the comments made by someone I called friend. A man I bent over backwards to help and make him feel at home during his stay in Bruff. I am sorry but I feel compelled to address some of the issues raised.

"Horses tied to every lamppost" seriously. Police take horses ? bare in mind Bruff is a scenic peacefully small town in Co Limerick, and in revenge the imaginary local yobs ??? burn building and put cows in shops etc. I challenge any journalist, to find any reference online or anywhere else to this imaginary event. In relation to his accommodation, Jordan spent a week with us to see if he liked the place, he returned to Scotland and then returned to stay. He wasn't alone here, other players stayed as well He didn't land somewhere he wasn't familiar with or hadn't seen before. As for the respected local business man, referred to as a gangster ?? Seriously some reporter should have told him to stop ?? ye must have been laughing at him at this stage.

The treadmill, obviously referring to the one given to Jordan by a volunteer, to save Jordan money as he was paying €14 a day to use the one in the local gym. 40 locks on a door, must have been a big door, pointless really when the window of the same room was constantly open.

As for the oriental children. 1 oriental child has been on this facility, I know this as that child is my own daughter, she mixed race and 9 years old. Admittedly referencing 20 oriental children sits nicely with the exaggerated, fictitious and libelous nature of the rest of his comments. To suggest this 9 year old child's behavior somehow instigated the installation of security camera is laughable. Maybe Jordan should look at his own behaviors in relation to this happening. This is the same child who would make me return back in the road to get her phone charger in case her friend Jordan needed to charge his i-pad.

I should point out that i do not work for Limerick FC directly, I work for a community organisation based here in Bruff with strong links to the club. I am currently looking at a host of message, screen shots and e-mails from Jordan thanking people for his stay and commending their professionalism. My heart goes out to the local community here in Bruff who have bent over backward to welcome all Limerick FC players including Jordan and doing everything they could to ensure his time away from his family and friends was enjoyable. The reputational and financial damage done to the Club, the town, the people and the businesses mentioned in his article is enormous. Something I'm sure Jordan is about to become extremely aware of. Lastly his comment about 'having to see it to believe it' he is right.

I offer an open invitation to my close friends in Scotland or any representative of the Herald in Scotland to come and visit us. I will pay myself for your stay in the accommodation in Bruff. You can experience life at one of the most professional and welcoming football clubs and communities anywhere. I could say a lot more in relation to Jordan and is behavior and habits but i am trying to remain professional at a time when my heart says dont. I could and perhaps will get into more detail in future.

The Leader reports on his Twitter apology, and the journalists "standing over" the story: http://www.limerickleader.ie/news/home/209281/Scottish-soccer-player-apologises-for-comments.html

Club statement:

Limerick FC are aware of comments attributed to former player Jordan Moore in a newspaper article today in relation to his time at the club and the town of Bruff.
Limerick FC are hurt, angered and dumbfounded by these comments which we totally and utterly refute. We are aware that the community of Bruff has been left understandably distressed by the said article.

A representative for Jordan Moore contacted the club earlier this year and informed us of Jordan’s background and his recovery from cancer. As a community-driven club, we offered Jordan a short-term deal to assist in his rehabilitation and provided him with accommodation and remuneration.

Jordan spent a week at the club after which he decided to take up our offer. Initially it was agreed that Jordan would stay for four weeks but at his request this was extended. Jordan recently returned to Scotland and had thanked the club for their help during his stay here.

The club, our staff and players have been welcomed with open arms by the community of Bruff and have been treated tremendously.
The club this afternoon received an apology from Jordan Moore in which he states the comments are “taken out of context and sensationalised”. We find it very difficult to accept the apology at this time.

The club will be making no further comment as we seek further advice.

Limerick FC.

"Further advice"? Sounds like a libel suit being thought of.

The club should just leave it lie. I haven't seen or heard of one person agreeing or believing him so if he wants to live in lala land then let him off. There is no point in dragging such rubbish on any longer than needs be. Everybody can see he completely fabricated the whole story and to be honest it reflects badly on Jordan more than Bruff or Limerick FC.

Lads, check out the video on YouTube called limerick city in motion. It'll put a bit of pride in your heart that we live in a great city, not without its faults but it's ours and no matter what deluded has beens say about it, we'll always love it and be proud of where we come from.

Agree with this. It's all so crazy that he just looks terrible and not Bruff or Limerick. No need to take it any further.

It just seems so stupid - like he thought he could just say what he liked and it would never leave Scotland. I could understand it if it was a player gone back to China or something.

Is there any news on the announcement which Limerick 95fm mentioned at the beginning of the month? the chairman also mentioned at half time in a league game towards the end of last season (think it was the rovers game) that the club would be making a big announcement but nothing ever materialised. Could it relate to investment? surprised that its not being talked about more a bit more...

Ya I'd no idea Sharkey was as bad as it turned out to be at all either but he had 2 bad concussions in the space of 3 or 4 weeks and after one in Drogheda they found a bleed in the brain. Up to 4 weeks later he was still supposedly feeling the effects of it all sounded like it had been a terrible time for the lad. Spoke to him briefly just before the break while he was at home though and he said he was coming around well and was really looking forward to getting back to the team which is great but he will need to be careful I'd imagine.

Nobody knows what it is or even if there is anything to talk about so nothing really to be said about it.
