Stephen Kenny dismissed it completely at the time.

In fairness, Kenny always dismisses transfer speculation completely.

With regards to Murphy, I'm not sure a keeper would be a priority at the minute.

We've released Danny O'Reilly and signed another French lad. Midfielder and it's not Pogba!

Gaius Makouta. 19 years old. Where TC is pulling these lads out of I don't know but sure at least he's a bit of an unknown quantity. Something to talk about.

Played 25 games for Le Havre B by the looks of things and that's about all I can establish about him.

His career prospects would have been irreparably damaged if people somehow thought we were prepared to let him go because he couldn't get in the team. In fairness I didn't see him play this year at all I think. Perhaps he was hard done by.

Rumoured to be going to Tallaght with Miele moving in the opposite direction.

I know the rovers board haven't been doing great things in the transfer market recently but c'mon that would be an awful transfer to make for us. Meenan's decent an all but both in form miele in miles ahead of him.

Miele has been poor of late. However, Rovers did good business getting him to sign on for next year. He will regain his form. Meenan was a backup plan if Miele wouldn't re-sgn.

Seems that Aymen Ben Mohamed is heading to Espérance in Tunisia.

He would have to be in Tunisia tonight and have the deal signed according to this article:

The phrase "doivent arriver" in that radio station news item is a little misleading: it means "are expected to arrive", not "must arrive". Aren't transfer deals often finalised before the window closes, subject to actual physical signatures later?

Spot on Little Bray, us French speakers in Dundalk would translate that as due to arrive or expected to arrive.

Donegal French may be a little different.

It must have been the dialect alright. Regardless, a deal would still have to be done before tonights deadline closing.

No, that only applies to Irish clubs signing players. You can still sell players to England until August 31, to Russia until something like October and I don't know if Tunisia even has a transfer window.

Longfordian
31/07/2016, 10:06 PM
Is that due to a Tunisian transfer deadline? If their window is open longer he can sign up to their deadline.

Edit - as per Charles

Tunisian window is 01 Jul - 15 Sep 2016.

According to transfermarkt.com: "The transfer window in Tunisia is open from Jul 1, 2016 to Sep 15, 2016."

I was simply working off the assumption that the above article referenced the window closing on the 31st July, but obviously, as pointed out above, my French is crap.

Bohs have confirmed the deal now subject to a medical. Curious to know how much they're getting for him (partly as we'll get a tiny slice of it as will UCD). Did he sign a one year or a two year deal with Bohs?

Well we won away in europe the night before and barely a peep out of the biased east coast media.

You're 100% right in what you're saying I just don't think as a club we're bothered selling.

Would be a decent bit of cover for Dundalk, especially when you see Cork ponying up for an older Dave Mulcahy.

Not a rumour, but interesting read about the cost of players in this country.
http://m.londonderrysentinel.co.uk/sport/football/derry-city-irish-based-players-too-expensive-claims-shiels-1-7528413

Mr A
16/08/2016, 9:47 AM
Interesting that the Irish League is apparently paying big money. I doubt it's widespread but there has always been clubs there whop would spend big on a few big names and pad the rest out with lads on relatively little.

But then again it's always hard to know what to take seriously with Shiels.

Philosophizer
16/08/2016, 10:21 AM
Yea i'd estimate that it's only the top 3/4 clubs that can pay wages that would be double that of Derry, and as Mr A said, they probably don't pay big money to all their players, just a select few on each team who have that bit of extra quality.

Shields puts their extra financial resources down to good club management, which I don't agree with though. For me it's plain and simple - the prize money in the Irish league is higher.

I remember looking for the figures last year. Very hard to come by but from memory, it was less than the LOI.

"I'm going to be based in Moira. It is quiet and peaceful. Sometimes it is good to just relax and not be in a big town where there are more people around. I like living in the countryside," said Novo, who hasn't tried an Ulster fry yet because "I'm looking after myself", but intends to at some stage.

I love the part in bold

Not sure if its already been posted here but Dundalk are set to announce the signings of Alan Keane & Dean Shiels on Friday. Both players are 31 and will add some cover & experience to the group.
