Deserved win by Bohs in Ferrycarrig tnight as the home team didn't do enough to trouble Dean Delaney in the Bohs goal. In contrast, Graham Doyle had to pull off a number of good saves to keep the final score at a 1-0 tally. With Danny Furlong and Gary Delaney passed fit, Wexford went with Graham, Craig, Gary, Lasty, Aidan, Eric, Jonny, Hopper, Andy and with Spot playing behind Danny up front. First half was punctuated with stoppages including the replacement of the ref (Connolly) who hobbled off midway through the half and was replaced by fourth official Mullally. First chance was created by the Youths after three minutes when the first of Craig McCabe's long throws was flipped over the bar by Stephen Last for Wexford. Other than that, it was Bohs who created the better chances during the first period. On five minutes, the excellent Akinade was sent free down the right but couldn't keep his shot on target. After the substitution of the ref, Akinade had another effort on target with his left, but Graham Doyle in the Youth's goal was able to parry it away. Midway through the half, Buckley for Bohs got a yellow for a tackle on Andy Mulligan. Another lengthy stoppage then occurred when Lasty got a shoulder injury after a Wexford attack. He was eventually to go off and be replaced by Ryan Delaney. Bohs then had a great chance through Quigley when the ball broke to him from a corner but he shot over. However, a minute later, Bohs got the crucial goal when the Wexford defence gave Akinade the ball and he ran through before shooting past Graham Doyle to give the away side the lead. A late Kurtis Byrne volley which Graham Doyle again managed to keep out then ended the first period with Youths playing very direct but creating little in front of goal. 1-0 to Bohs at half-time.
