Gianluigi Buffon (Juventus),
Cafu (AC Milan), Ricardo Cavalho (Chelsea), Alessandro Nesta (AC Milan), Ashley Cole (Arsenal),
Cristiano Ronaldo (Man Utd), Maniche (Porto), Ronaldinho (Barcelona), Pavel Nedved (Juventus),
Thierry Henry (Arsenal), Andriy Shevchenko (AC Milan).
Coach: Jose Mourinho (Chelsea).

Decent side...Ronaldo only one I'd question....Duff should have made it ahead of him IMO

Cristiano Ronaldo (Man Utd)
Don't believe the hype.
Flashes of genius here and there but overall not worthy of a place in a Premiership 11 never mind a UEFA Team.

I chose that team except Cech for Buffon, Giuly for Ronaldo and Adriano for Henry. I love Adriano, he's coming to Pat's. He's doesn't want to leave in mid January as he'll be sitting on his arse so he'll leave at the end of the month, get a week break and start pre-season at the start of February... :o

Henry the only player to be nominated four years running and every year since it's inception. Doubt he'd even make the bench in the foot.ie select team!! :D

1.2 million UEFA users voted this time around

Agree completely with your choice eirebhoy. Apart from Adriano. :)

I think I'll have to back up my Adriano selection. :) He came back to Inter from Parma at the end of January and scored 12 goals for them in the 4 months until the end of the season. He then scored 7 in 6 matches in the Copa America including an equaliser in the 93rd minute of the final against Argentina (who had a decent team out in Heinze, Coloccini, Ayala, Javier Zanetti, Sorin, Teves, D'Allesandro, Gonzalez). He won that cup with Brazil, was top scorer and got player of the tournament.

This season he has scored 14 league goals and 7 Champions League goals for Inter, more than teammates Vieri, Recoba and Martins put together. He's now the top scorer out of the Italian, English, German, Spanish and French leagues. A truly amazing year for a 22 year old and certainly more deserving of a place in the team that Henry who struggled to do anything at the European Championships and still hasn't been the same player in Europe as he is in the premiership. :)

I thought Drogba would have been in with a shout he was good for L'OM last season especially in the Champions League (then UEFA Cup after Jan).

Duff made that selection a couple of years ago, didn't he??

Drogba scored 18 goals in 35 in the league for Marseille (not sure how many were in 2004) and 6 in 17 for Chelsea. Thats a goal every two games. Adriano is averaging almost a goal a game in 2004. I think Shevchenko is a cert so those two would have certainly been my choices.

yeah, after the 2002 world cup.

Ronaldo only in cos of performances in euro 2004. saw some of that Exeter game last night & in stead of running past players (like Duff would) Ronaldo had to try some trick & usually almost fell over himself.

Henry's record from August 2004 to 22nd December 2004 :D

Champions League - 6 Games, 4 Goals (strike rate: 1 goal every 1.5 game)
Premier League - 18 games, 15 Goals (strike rate: 1 goal every 1.2 game)

just as impressive as Adriano the stats say! :D

oh and European Golden Boot Winner in 2004 was Henry too!

just going over old ground here - thank god 1.2 million people agree with me or I feel I'd be losing my marbles!!

1.20m voted for Henry my arse? ;) There was 10 strikers up for nomination. I just feel Adriano deserves a place in the team, maybe play a 4-3-3. :p You're right, Henry has been doing well for Arsenal, just can't do it for France.

and long may his barren run for France continue as long as they are in group! ;)

yeah 1.2 million voted overall but not all for Henry obviuosly! That was creative mathematics by me! :D

Maybe they got their 'Ronaldo's' mixed-up??
I know which one I'd rather have...especially now that he seems to be fit again.
