Is this an April Fools joke?

Nein. Pitch waterlogged. Yellow weather warning in Donegal and a lot of rainfall overnight and this morning.

Fancy feckers:p Plastic pitch would solve the problem at a fraction of the cost and you'd get a designated thread on foot.ie thrown in!

Fair play to Harps getting it sorted early, would have been a nightmare if people traveled up only to find out when they got there that it was off

No surprise that games are off, heavy rain overnight right till early afternoon here in the west.

With most junior soccer leagues going months without games it just shows how easily LOI could be the same if we went back to winter football.

Shocking pitch in the RSC, should never be used.

In other unsurprising news, Dundalk 1-0 up on Derry. Not a huge crowd in there, Derry fans only coming in the gate now, was thinking it was strange there'd only be around 20 Derry fans such a short trip down the road.

Good first half. Derry are working harder than any away team I've seen in Oriel Park in the last year. It'll be interesting to see whether they can keep it. They're not creating anything though.

Note to Kenny Shiels:

Derry have an unfair advantage with their own dugout on the halfway line. This is a disgrace and a severe hindrance to any away coaches and staff. Sort it out.

Man's an abomination. Worst ref in LOI by a long way. His performance in Sligo for our game had to be seen to be believed.

Wexford score with the last kick of the game as Bray make a balls of a last ditch attempt to score an equaliser. 2-0 there. Great win for them.

Results:
Bohs 2-0 Longford
Dundalk 1-1 Derry
Rovers 2-0 Galway
Wexford 2-0 Bray

UCD 1-1 Athlone
Drogheda 4-0 Cabo

Our poor run in Tallaght goes on. Big result for Wexford tonight, they've been due a result like that for a few weeks now

He did indeed. In fairness though, he quickly realised his mistake and corrected himself.

Well he also had Ger Doherty saving Dundalk by pulling off a save from Stephen O'Donnell!?

shelbourne athletic might be worth a few euro tomorrow.

I can see First Division Champions 2016 Limerick FC drawing or losing in the interests of Irish football.

4 points clear with a game in hand after playing only four games makes a bit of a mockery of the rest of the small, amateur, outfits in the division.

Harps were due to receive a civic reception on the same night from Donegal County Council.

Jaysus Longford are the poorest team I've seen for a few years, still should have scored twice t nite though.
Longford used to bring a decent away crowd, maybe 40/50 tonight?

They were shocking in Finn Park last week too. Mystery how it was only 1-0.

There was four of them in Ballybofey last week too. FOUR.

Just looking at the stats for bookings it the game in Oriel Park.

You'd think it was a bloodbath from those stats. Except it wasn't.

Saw a clip of the Derry sending off, not sure if some opinions expressed in a newspaper(readership less than 100k) damages the league more than a performance like that.
Wexford doing ok so far, and have been unlucky in a few games, hope the locals down there supports them.

Hard to get people out to CCS to watch a team playing so poorly let alone Donegal. If Dundlak travel well next weekend we could be looking at a 50:50 split

Alright game in Tallaght. Galway weren't great, we were great either but slightly less not great than them. Great to see Trevor Clarke on the scoresheet and Miele is a class act - if we still have him next season it'd be a huge achievement.

I'm not sure whether the comment about RSC pitch is April Fools joke or not but it won FAI pitch of the year in 2013 and has been regularly praised for it's quality by visiting managers. It just rained very heavily all day and was waterlogged so it's no big deal that a game is called off.
Ridiculous number of bookings in Dundalk Derry game and 2nd yellow for McCormack was not even a foul. If anything he was fouled! It's not helped by players surrounding referees calling for cards which happened for both sendings off.

Dundalk are very good at playing the referee to be fair.

Agreed - it is poor form, even if it is understandable in the heat of the battle.

Sutton is an odd ref - on once occasion Dundalk had a clear advantage, but he whistled for a free and booked the Derry offender and then later in the game he let play carry on and came back several minutes later to issue a yellow card.

That said I suspect that a review of the match footage will show that Sutton was correct about most (maybe even all) of the yellow cards!

He wasn't right about the McCormack 2nd yellow as it wasn't even a foul

Harsh on Shields too obviously but the McCormack one was a joke

Longford to Ballybofey is only a 2 hour drive. 2 and a half on a bad day. Longford have the easiest travel of any support in the whole league and no excuse for 'long journeys'.

I really enjoyed the first half. Both team were playing well and it was great tactical battle between two contrasting set-ups.

The song half became the "Sutton Show" and revolved around his seemingly random bookings.

I went to Oriel to watch a football match between two teams. The ref is supposed to be an officiator not a participant.
