Former Shamrock Rovers striker Stephen Grant has revealed that he will be concentrating on a different ball game after calling time on his career in the eircom League.
Despite a new contract offer from Roddy Collins’s Rovers, and interest from several other league clubs, former Sunderland trainee Grant has decided to retire from the game at the age of just 27.
He is using the extra time to improve on his golf game, however, and after chiselling his handicap mark from 16 to just a shade over scratch in less than four years, he is in line to enter some of the top amateur tournaments in the country.
