Usually a bogey team for us, no matter how good we have been. Even the year we won the league I think we lost 3 times to them. In saying that their pitch should suit is down to the ground. Going to be interesting to see what changes are made. It's going to be hard to do too much swapping with a very good performance last week. I'd be a firm believer of sticking with a winning team rather than changing the whole set up again. Maybe one or two changes.
Likely going to be:
Hall
Sharkey - Paudie - Williams - Murphy
Duggan - Tracey
Kenny - Lynch - Greene
Mullhall

I'd bring in O'Conor and Lee J for Murphy and Garbhan if the 2 boys are fit Tracy back to left back.

Tracy back to left back.
Fine LB definitely, but this comment below was also interesting from the UCD game thread.
Maybe it is a coincidence but, similar to the Dundalk friendly where he also played there, we transition from defence to attack much better when Shane Tracy plays centre mid. Second half also showed how good Shane Duggan can be when he gets on the ball 20 yards further up the field rather than going back to our back 4 for it.
Hopefully Friday will see another win, and put that Waterford bogey behind us like the convincing win against UCD in front of a decent crowd will help ease the tendency of recent times, to be weak in well attended bigger home games into the past too.
I'm going for the win, I think we'll edge it.

And the year we won the league (if you mean 1980!) we had a great 4-3 win away to Waterford!
Who else was there???

By league I meant this division 3 years ago. 1980 long before my time :D

I've been in Waterford about ten times and I've never seen so much as a draw.
It's a graveyard for Limerick teams, the Cusack Park of soccer.
Eventhough they look fairly terrible I'd take a draw off you right now just to keep momentum going for the Cobh game.

I agree that Shane did well in the middle with UCD but we need to be having our strongest team out and I think our best midfield is O'Conor, Duggan, Lee J and Tracy is a better left back than Murphy even though Colm did alright against UCD too. Don't agree with the whole don't change a winning team thing.

Ah mighty, well done all.
I am hoping to make it home next week for a few days, it's rare for me to get back during the season. I am aiming at Cobh in the MF and if I make it, it will be my first time there and seeing Limerick play there after being raised on stories about the place. Cannot f*ckin wait.

Another good 3pts anyone a report on the game bit disappointed to see us concede 2 late goals.

Was watching a stream of the game. We seemed to completely switch off at 4up. Let them back into it with two poor goals and then went up and Greene gifted the 5th. Only saw the second half but it looked like we were in cruise control without much intensity.

A crowd in Waterford were doing one of those live Facebook streams. It wasn't great but better than nothing. Saw limericks 4th and 5th goals.

Another good result. Seem to have picked up where we left off last year as the great entertainers, guaranteed goals when you go to see Limerick. 3 conceded in two games doesn't look the best but banging them in at the other end. So far so good.

I was at social event and only checked my phone just after FT. Fair to say my jaw dropped. Get that defence tightened up and we really could walk this division.

Going by our two games played so far against supposedly the better teams in this division goals will not be a problem by reports very comfortable again last night.
But as pointed out we have also conceded 3 goals against average opponents in two games I know it's very early days but the fear that was made by posters on here is proven to be right already.
Tighten it up and we will stroll through this league.

Barr the header against UCD I thought we were comfortable in defense in that match. Last night from the clips I could see it was just q bit of sloppiness when well ahead.

Negatives first cos let's face it negatives are more fun. We need to stop conceding terrible, terrible goals. There'll be bad days on bad pitches when it costs us. Having said that I presume (hope??) our defence will settle once someone finds out where Shaun Kelly is.
Overall though that was ridiculous last night we're scoring as many goals against teams as we feel like. 5 against Waterford and only a few players broke sweats. Fairplay to Martin Russell aswell Mullhall up front works physicality and hard work we're getting the ball back higher up the pitch as a result of it. John O'Flynn looked sharp when he came on aswell. Lots to look forward to.

I honestly think if Russell had one of the top teams he would win the league. With money to spend it gets good players and plays well. With bad players he does the same and struggles.

We have made these first 2 games look ridiculously easy. Small bit annoyed at conceding because I honestly think losing by only 3 flattered Waterford. Same as UCD we should really have scored 6 or 7 had two or three great chances just before their first and the two they got did come from us falling asleep at 4-0.
Went from not really having a bench last season to bringing Paul O'Conor,Lee J Lynch and John O'Flynn off the bench. Will be even more dangerous going forward when Kelly and Tracy are the fullbacks bombing on too. Obviously harder times to come but I think some team is gonna be at the end of a serious battering by us at some stage.

Any idea what injury duggan picked up Friday night??

Apparently Duggan had a tight hamstring.
Russell has on 3 occasions had money to spend and on three occasions done extremely well. By no means is Russell the finished article as a manager but as managers go he is still young. I could see him doing very well with Shanrock Rovers or even the current Dundalk team.

In fairness any half decent manager at all would do well with Dundalk.

Can't remember at this stage. It was some Waterford page, possibly a radio station page. It was a live Facebook stream so it's not up anymore.
