Council restores FAI funding

€350,000 will be restored to the FAI's funding.

The Sports Council have restored funding of €350,000 withheld from the FAI last year due to the row over implementation of the Genesis report.
Having met most of the requirements for restructuring, the FAI will receive the money as part of this year's funding from the Council. A further €150,000 remains on hold though until the two contentious positions of Chief Executive and Financial Officer are filled to the satisfaction of the Council.

Anyone read the Phoenix the other week? Interesting to read that John Treacy has never been interviewed for his position, nor was it ever advertised.

Delaney welcomes Council announcement

Interim Chief Executive Officer of the FAI, John Delaney, has welcomed the announcement by the Irish Sports Council that it will advance the bulk of the Association’s 2004 grant.

The Council has restored Eur350,000 to the Association after progress was made on the implementation of the recommendations entailed in the Genesis Report more than two years ago.

I don't trust the FAI to appoint a Chief Exec from outside their cosy little circle.

I know they've got a recruitment agency out soliciting candidates, but is there anyone independent from the FAI on the interview panel, or is Delaney a shoe-in for this ? I'd put money on that he is.

The nightmare continues......
