View Full Version : FAI staff Vs. Oireachtas team

A team made up of Football Association of Ireland Staff and Members of the Soccer Writers’ Association of Ireland will take on an Oireachtas team in a charity game in aid of the Asian Relief Fund. The game will take place at the end of the month with the proceeds going to GOAL.

Celebrity players will participate and full details of the game will be announced next week.

The Football Association of Ireland today confirmed that an FAI/Media team would take on an Oireachtas team in a Charity Football match at 7.30pm in Dalymount Park on Wednesday next, 26th January in aid of GOAL’s Asian Relief Fund.

The match will be sponsored by A & L Goodbody and Brian Kerr and Noel O’Reilly will act as Managers.

Both teams are expected to include some celebrity guest players and An Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern TD has confirmed that he will officially kick off the game.

Further fundraising activities will take place around Ireland’s friendly International against Portugal at Lansdowne Road on 9th February with an eventual target of ˆ100,000 to be raised by then.

I can just see it now, any eL fans at the match will realise that they have no-one on the field to cheer on.

Anyone any idea of the possible teams?

I'm guessing that Michael McDowell will be right back and Joe Higgins will be out wide on the left wing, Bertie and Enda Kenny floating somewhere in the middle. Jackie Healy Rae will be in goals, standing in the way of any change in the score of things. :D :D :D
