The Divisional teams of the year, selected by the eircom League manager's were also named with Shelbourne once again dominating the Premier Division team while the three promoted clubs, Finn Harps, UCD and Bray Wanderers make up the majority of the First Division team.

Premier Division Team of the Year:
1. Steve Williams (Shelbourne)
2. Owen Heary (Shelbourne)
3. Sean Dillon (Longford Town)
4. Dave Rogers (Shelbourne)
5. Steven Grey (Drogheda United)
6. Kevin Hunt (Bohemians)
7. Bobby Ryan (Bohemians)
8. Stuart Byrne (Shelbourne)
9. Jason Byrne (Shelbourne)
10. Daryl Murphy (Waterford United)
11. Ollie Cahill (Shelbourne)

First Division Team of the Year:
1. Chris O'Connor (Bray Wanderers)
2. Colm Tresson (Bray Wanderers)
3, Shane Bradley (Finn Harps)
4. Ray Kenny (Kildare County)
5. Jonathan Minnock (Finn Harps)
6. Tony McDonnell (UCD)
7. Tom Mohan (Finn Harps)
8. Stephen Fox (Bray Wanderers)
9. Kevin McHugh (Finn Harps)
10. Colm Heffernan (Sligo Rovers)
11. Willie Doyle (UCD).

Some strange decisions in both selections

6. Kevin Hunt (Bohemians)
7. Bobby Ryan (Bohemians)
11. Ollie Cahill (Shelbourne)

Did these three vote for themselves a few dozen times, or are footballers really as stupid as everyone says?

Also announced were the various nominees for the player of the year awards.

Player of the year nominees
Jason Byrne, Owen Heary, Jamie Harris (Shelbourne)
Kevin Doyle (Cork City)
Declan O'Brien (Drogheda United)
Gary O'Neill (Dublin City, now Shelbourne)

Young player of the year nominees
Sean Dillon (Longford Town)
Liam Kearney (Cork City)
Daryl Murphy (Waterford United.)

First Division player of the year nominees
Kevin McHugh (Finn Harps)
Willie Doyle (UCD, now Waterford United)
Trevor Vaughan (Dundalk, now Dublin City)

As pleased as I am for Nailer (earning a player of the year nomination in a relegated team is some feat), I can't understand how Murphy failed to get nominated for the main prize. Hard to look beyond Heary for the POTY award. Murphy and McHugh will pick up the other two.

That must be a mistake ?!?!?!?!?!?!? bloody hell, nominated for player of the year but cant even get into the team of the year. Zayed should be in both.

Daft system they have

Jamie Harris is nominated for player of the year, yet Dave Rogers beats him into the CB spot in the team of the year?

Agree that Ryan should be nowhere near that team of the season, Doyle and Fahey much better right wing options. Hunt only in there on previous years reputation, anytime I saw him this year he was poor.

The team of the year is chosen by the manager's while the player's of the year isn't which would explain why people who are nominated for player of the year didn't make the team.

Daft system they have

And you're surprised.... irish football by nature is daft...

Darly Murphy beats Doyle to forward but Murphy only nominated for young player award...

And why is Dolye in the Snr but not young player of the year catogory when he is the same age as the other guys?

To be honest Im no longer surprised that there's no consistancy with this stuff in the eL.

Because they feel he was one of the top 4 players of 2004...

Good point Max, he had a great season and Longford deserved their success, but you are still no where near the standard of Cork City a point made by your manager last summer in a tv 3 interview ot don't you agree with him? :D

Useless this season any time I saw him

Taking games against LTFC into consideration Kevin Hunt, Dave Rodgers and Ollie Cahill were not the best players in their positions this year.I can name two or three players who should be there ahead of either of the three. Where's Corks contribution, IMO more deserving than Bohs.

i wouldn't be reading too much into that anyway, not worth the time of day ... what a joke !!

people want to hear the word- the rebel army is on the march....blah blah blah.

Yeah, I mentioned the two of them, but I mentioned Doyler as a player who should get a chance- dunno about Kearney, not yet anyway

tbh the team of the year voted by the managersis very strange! for starters no ocrk player in it, hunt, ryan and rogers were extremely poor this year.

then for first division the player of the year nominee is trevor vaughan and he does not make team of the year! thought eamon zayed would have made team of the year

not surprised with the consisitency thats all! delighted dillo got in!

can anyone of the ltfc contingent rem if any of our players made it last year? i rem digger making it in our 1stseason!

You must be joking, Rogers was a contender for player of the year for the team who won the league and set records in Europe.

They were on it last year alright if I remember rightly, Barrett was nominated for young player of the year and Kirby for player of the year

rogers from watching him in the shels massacre in flancare last season i thought was very poor and i thought his attitude was poor when he did the salute to ourselves

but let bygones be bygones i would prob ave picked him after the class goal in uefa cup quailifier

Every Shels player was rubbish in that match bar maybe Jason Byrne and Crawley though, it's harsh to judge him on that.

rogers is a decent player, nothing special, but he gets the job done. How Harris got in the list is beyond me- he's absolute muck.

The team of the year is chosen by the manager's
But why were there no Cork players on the Team of the Year?

Drogheda Utd - Paul Doolin (Dublin)
Bohemians - Gareth Farrelly (Dublin)
Derry City - Stephen Kenny (Dublin)
Shelbourne - Pat Fenlon (Dublin)
Longford Town - Alan Matthews (Dublin)
Shamrock Rovers - Roddy Collins (Dublin)
St Patricks Athletic - John McDonnell (Dublin)
Dublin City - Dermot Keely (Dublin)
Waterford Utd - Alan Reynolds (Waterford but apparently he hates people from Cork)

why are fans of **** clubs like waterford and longford so obsessed with city. **** them anyway. its a disgrace that no city players were in the team.

Its ok Shed. Dont worry. Just because non of your beloved City players (who didnt actually win anything last season) got into the team, doesnt mean you have to go mental.

And we are not a **** club, we are a club who knows how to win trophies :)
