Five to watch
We here at eleven-a-side.com have never claimed to possess soothsaying ability akin to, say, a Nostradamus or Balaam and his Talking Donkey, but we decided to have a go at predicting some of the younger stars who will make their mark in the eircom League over the next 12 months.
The past year saw the rise of Waterford United’s Daryl Murphy and Kevin Doyle at Cork City. Two young forwards who were not even first-choice for their respective clubs at the start of the campaign, they ended it as under-21 international regulars, with 27 eircom League goals between them.
