Dundalk announced details on their ST's on Saturday, pretty good value, although think we've a game less at home this season, also a new category for secondary school students. No word on matchday prices but presumably it'll be the same as has been previously.
Under €15 a game for an allocated stand seat and under €12 a game for an unallocated stand seat is great value. Less than a tenner a game for a ground ST too. Good value on the student/ OAP ones and the kids tickets are for next to nothing plus any kids in the junior supporters club get in free.

Great to see more and more clubs introducing a special rate for secondary school students they are always the ones who find it hardest to fund going to games but if you can get them going week in week out at that age you have fans for life. Something Longford town don't seem to realise, or don't care about one or the other.

Reserved seating something De Town don't do either despite the fact there was a group of fans willing to fork out for it last season, club can't seem to realise any money is better than nothing. How hard is it to stick a few names on seats

Ive had a season ticket since 2000 with a named seat its something Pats have always done never realised it was such a perk at some clubs until recently. Its the third season back using the credit card style system which is much better than the previous voucher book system.

The allocated seating has been done in Oriel for as long as I can remember. The advantage obviously is not being seated up against the side 'windows' of the stand. It isnt such a problem now as it was when the perspex had become opaque before recent improvements. The last few seasons' increases in attendance have made the allocated stand seats much more appealing as the stand was often sold out, well at least the home support area. With significant restrictions on capacity for Europe season tickets will probably sell very well again this season, hopefully breaking last seasons record numbers - can we hit the 1500 mark? There is no doubt that the prices are good value but I find season tickets (bar the 1st option for the likes of European games) a bit of a false economy as I end up spending as much on a match night as being without a season ticket. The extra €20 in the pocket goes on Lotto, pints, programme, goal times, and unnecessary merchandise lol. A complete win win for the club as Id imagine it is the same for many.

You what? Merchandise? In Oriel? A certain local shop has more Dundalk related gear and a bigger choice than the club shop. It has been more than useless in the past 3 years.

Same as this year, extra home game or not we are right up there with the most expensive and no offers for secondary school students or an unemployed rate. No surprise really.
Don't think any club has an unemployed season ticket. Nor should they

Didn't mean to suggest ours were a bargain or anything just stating the price. I've often wondered how clubs that offer unemployed admission prices verify that someone is actually unemployed.

I suppose that's a fair point but the lack of a secondary school rate is one that really annoys me as I've seen it first hand this is the age group where you either make them into a fan for life or they just lose interest and when they are finding it hard to scrape up the funds to go to games they are more likely to not bother. We are also second or third highest for a child's season ticket. No interest in bringing in younger supporters.

I think an offer/discount for the unwaged is a good idea. I think the marketing term is discriminatory prizing where you increase revenue by charging different prizes to different segments of the market. As most LoI grounds are never filled to capacity any extra fan you can get in is cost neutral (unless they are bad troublemakers). Also as Nesta says above once you get a fan into the ground they are likely to spend a few euro on lotto, programme, food, maybe scarf, especially if the got in for "free" on the particular day.
How many clubs would hope to sell around a thousand ST ?

Most clubs sell individual tickets at reduced rate for unemployed. As they should

I'd be disappointed if we didnt build on last seasons season ticket sales - should aim for a solid base of 1200.

I think we can do better than that. There was over a thousand last year and the scramble for tickets for big matches will now have people buying tickets as an insurance policy.

You would hope so. My justification for one is that I am not scouring around town for a working atm on Friday evening. It's just so much convenient.
Would still take about 30 to 40 with me for a mag goal time few pints if I didn't have the St I would still take the same amount
Although I don't know why we and not sure if other clubs do allow fans pay by dd or monthly SO for tickets. Especially since most clubs have the swipe card facilties

The ST Dundak have is excellent value in my opinion, I go to the stand most games, and ive only missed one home game in 2 seasons so €200 for me works out as a great deal. The convenience factor is also great, as above poster points out, you only need a few quid then for the night.
However, I think €20 for the stand on match day is ridiculous, but the gamble of increasing it for start of 2014 season appears to have worked with back to back titles, but it's still too expensive. €15 all areas would be sufficient especially as there are 2,000 seats in the ground. Maybe €17 for the stand, but overall the ST is great value for all categories, and probably reason why Dundalk sold around 1,200 last season.

Thats very impressive ST sales by Dundalk. With the European money they must be over the one million figure in terms of revenue for the year.

Perhaps the intention of the €20 was to drive ST sales? If so, I think it's very short-sighted. Just a theory anyway.

Possibly and maybe even will have a cash surplus of a couple of grand Jan 1st but its misleading too as there is such a catch up needed ground facilities wise.

Nah! The price increases happened 2 or 3 seasons ago? so before last seasons big surge in season tickets sales. An odd benefit of having ground capacity limited to less than ticket demands for European games, it drove season tickets sales up as these get priority bookings for Europe matches. A benefit in that its money in the bank before the season even kicks off.

The matchday ticket prices were adjusted in 2014. Previously a ground adult ticket was €10 and stand adult ticket was €15.
At the time, there was plenty of debate about the wisdom of the stand ticket price, with little resistance to the ground price increase. The club emphasised that the €20 stand price would have a limited impact as very few actually paid this price when Season Tickets & Concessions were taken into account. This supports the view you expressed about the primary purpose being to drive ST sales.
Rather then being short-sighted, it could be argued that this was a good long-term strategy to cultivate a season ticket buying culture. This has certainly happened!
It is not the price of the match day stand ticket that may curb attendance in the future - but the success or otherwise of the team

I'd say they were over it before the European money increased.
It probably will be well in excess of 1m, as prize money alone for 2015 will be worth 700k/725k. 100k from the league, 50k from the cup and 550k/575k from CL to be paid next season.
The avg crowd was just over 3k for league games, all would have been decent gate receipts with or without ST figures added. Then there were a few big cup games, and finally the BATE match, like all other clubs though, ST's only apply for league games.
Another benefit of having a ST is you get first option to buy a CL ticket match before general sale, then same for any big cup matches, not to mention a big once off match like in the case with the final match of 2014, all those having a ST avoided the hassle of trying to get ticket that went on general sale.
What are other first division clubs charging next season? Waterford United are planning to charge 15 for stand tickets up from 10 euro and 160 for season ticket and some people are not happy at this increase especially after we've had 2 awful seasons in a row. It's to fund a better squad for next season according to Roddy Collins. I see Limerick are also €15.

€15 is far too much for First Division imo. Shels are something around the same if I remember right.

€15 per game and €160 for season tickets the new working adults price for 2016. I fully understand the reason behind it.
If working adults purchase the season*ticket for €160 quid it works out as €1.43 per home league game increase on paying €10 on the gate last year.
There's a new family season ticket available for next season. Should the club open the bar for 2016 there'll be a season and bar ticket.
Limerick adults €15.
Shels adults €15.
Drogheda adults stand tickets were €20 this year.
Cobh, Cabinteely, UCD, Athlone presume adult is €10? Don't know myself as I'm a student.

Limerick is €15 stand and €12 terrace.
In fairness €15 not bad when you consider we are assembling a very decent squad and will be playing in a decent ground. Think it's fair enough when you consider it was €12 to go into the stand in Jackman and watch rubbish for years.
We also have a €20 ticket. It gets you a stand ticket and use of the corporate area (the big room). It's probably the best view in the ground and you get tea, coffee and sandwiches available at half time.
