Dundalk almost certainly changing from Umbro for 2016, details of the new supplier and kit should be announced next month. I think they have been with Umbro since 2006.

We are sadly sticking with Umbro who are dishing out awful quality merchandise imo, the generic designed home shirt for 16 is due pre Christmas.

I believe Dundalk are going with a local supplier, Horseware, under their sports brand CX Sport. They have been supplying stuff this season for the shop so it'll be interesting to see what kind of design they come up with for the kit.
It'll be good to have a local company involved and I just hope they are better than Umbro at supplying sufficient quantities of merchandise.

Supporting a local company is a good idea. We should get something original too.

I am fed up of teams having the same kit. Cork and Bray having the same shirt was a joke and made the league look amateur.

Lol, i can think of a hundred things that need to be improved in the LOI before bloody kits. i wouldn't get too wound up about a piece of cloth White Horse.

He's not getting wound up. In a thread on new kits, he's pointing out that 2 teams wearing the same kit is ****e. There's no argument against this

Pats are due a stinker. Haven't had a bad home kit in over a decade now

Interesting to see what Shamrock Rovers have as a kit supplier next year. Warrior now defunct (hehe great word). Can't see it being New Balance as they have Celtic. Back to Umbro? Well I say interesting but it's probably only me that finds it interesting😄

Town's new home kit to be released in the next week or 2. Didn't like the pictures I've seen so far but sometimes you need to see the kit in person for it to grow on you hopefully it's one of those. Last years home kit will be hard beat tbh. Not a fan of macron gear in general though it falls to sh1te after a while.

Limerick are supposed to be going with Hummel next season. Our under 19s & 17s were wearing it this season. Cracking gear if we go with it. It'll defo be a big seller down here if we do.

Do Top Lion now have the NB rights here?

Slightly concerned about this, I hope it works out and Horseware produce something decent. Their horse blankets and jodhpurs are world class I'm sure, but I'd rather a proven specialist provider/manufacturer. That said, Umbro/Top Lion just haven't been able to meet our demands and that must be incredibly frustrating for the owners, we could have shipped a ton of jerseys in the last few weeks of the season and in the days leading up to the final

MOD EDIT: Removed the religious reference. No idea why it was felt to be necessary.

Yep They have a brand called BLK as well. So assuming the contract is with Top Lion (which is a fairly safe assumption) it will be one of NB, Umbro or BLK.

Their Rugby gear was good so should be a decent indication of what they can do.

know the feeling sponsors went on one of the washes and it wasnt that high a temp! if they went back to the quality of our jerseys of a decade ago or so the world would be a better place!

Our jerseys have always been fairly crap quality as far as I can recall apart from the Umbro ones in 06/07 generic design though they were. I think Macron are generous with their kit for the players though so that's probably why we're still with them, along with the price presumably.

The quality of their former Rambo rugby gear was good. The jersey template is more of less a blank canvass I believe rather than being handed a booklet of predetermined designs. Its getting very close to Christmas if design isnt done up to get replicas manufactured and delivered. The sheer demand for the away jersey this time last year caused most of the delay, 1000 orders a week after launch was stated as EPL like demand and they hadn't the capacity to expand the order. Hopefully Horseware will have such capacity if the jerseys are good and in similar demand. They are not faceless as a Dundalk company and wont be able to hide behind the manufacturer, though they will still be shipped from China as the Umbro gear was also. I doubt they will just launch the the same shirt as the current Ladies one. Doesnt look too bad to me in that photo tbh. The amount of kit provided to the first team is what makes the decision for the club. I hope it will be the start of another close relationship with a Dundalk international company, especially as Horseware are really pushing CX sports brand. Hopefully prices will be more reasonable than the umbro stuff. I still love the black Umbro shirt so wont be retired any time soon even if I get the 2016 version!

There's so much wrong with this shirt, I'm not sure where to start, but the cx branding is way too big and the fitting makes it look like a modified bin bag for starters. Not cx-ee at all, a complete turn off, I'd be disgusted if we were lining out in this, you have to get the fundamentals right.

Is there anything to be said for a League wide kit deal? As long as there isnt the one template with different colours. Say the CX gears turns out to be good, a league wide deal could decrease prices and increase first team kit incentives. The bigger clubs would likely be carrying some of the cost burden though. Thinking out loud really but the bigger the order the cheaper the pricing etc.

Unfortunately the EU forbids such things as anti competitive.
In a league like ours I could see the advantages but leaving the EU thing aside it would require agreements of all clubs and well....

Nesta99
01/12/2015, 11:15 PM
Would it be anti competitive if there was a tender process for all interested suppliers and the most competitive deal getting the nod? Getting clubs to agree well as you said that would be a different issue altogether, no pun intended.

Starting to think Nesta that you work for CX+ ;)
They would need to be upping the quality of that kit if they want to sell a lot of it in Dundalk over the xmas period and not Jonesboro!.Launching next week i believe and the www on the page is not even working which is also a bit of a worry although can easily be sorted.

Aye half the time you order something from Newry and they ask post code? We say there's none and the autofill on the order system wont progress the order due to 'invalid postode'. Couldnt open an account with Halifax when living in England for the same reason. Sooner its all go the better. As for couriers delivering from Dublin well the eircode add has it spot on...

Crucial piece of info - I was a student and as a student I had to provide my home address along with English address and the system wouldnt allow the account to open without a postcode. Tried all the usual tricks N/A, Eire, the banks own postcode etc. There was no way of overriding things so up the street to HSBC and they didnt have the same problem. I then found a Bank of Ireland branch a week later anyhow.
