Second Division Roso Floreni's home game against Politechnica Chisinau was abandoned after the Roso president drove his jeep on to the putch in persuit of the match officials, because he was unhappy with a refereeing decision. Referee Vitalie Onica had awarded Politechnica a penalty after 15 mins, which they converted to take a 2-1 minute lead. Moments later the president Mihai Macovei, started up his vehicle and began a high speed chase.
Onica managed to avoid being hit and Macovei drove out of the stadium but returned shortly afterwards. However, the only police officer on duty had already called for back-up to prevent any further incident.
The game was abandoned and later awarded 3-0 to Politchnica. Macovei was banned from attending matchs until the end of the season and fined £1000.
"It was a miracle nobody died" said Politchnica head coach Ion Caras after the game.
No Manchester City players were thought to be involved.
