Athlone seem to be making some good progress during the close season, might be a bit of a dark horse. Monaghan have also made some handy signings, don't know how there managing to pay these players thou ? But they would want to make a MASSIVE improvement if they want finish that high ! They were by far the worst team i saw last season.

In fairness i would take a lot of abuse about Monaghan on the chin, but in terms of financial management we have probably one of the best records in the league. Not wanting to dig at any particular club but

We have not had problems with unpaid wages
we have never spent capital grants on current expenditure
we have never had to arrange a temporary loan from the league / fai
we have never had to sell our ground
we own our own ground
we own land around our own ground
We have consistantly fielded teams within a budget which could be met - thus we have not perhpas attained the heights of other clubs, but the promotions we have achieved were done so on strict budgets.

I hope that clears up that little misconception

that's absolute horse****t u c*ck. yer fans sed we looked very good after our friendly in the "flan siro". bellend!!

easy tiger, last i heard it was ok to have an opinion... id actually love to see yiz come up- the more regional teams the better, and id love to be able to catch a few el prem matches in the showgrounds, its a better ground than many of the premier sides have. but as far as ive seen, and funnily enough i was at that match, yiz are not gonna be gud enough this year.

I suppose ye can, as it appears that I can't :o

That has been fixed above, to what I did originally intend to have, though not as I would like to think I could realistically hope for.

The predicted demise of Bohs is ridiculous.

Farrelly is a class act who will make a big impact, and some good players have been brought in. The likes of Hawkins and Lynch are diabolical players who Bohs are far better off without.

It's amazing to see people predict finishes as low as 6th. Bohs behind the likes of Drogheda, Cork, Longford or Waterford? Are you having a laugh? ? ?

I do agree with you to an extent. Your mid field espically with Hunt, Farrelly, JPK (If he's as good as he's supposed to be), O'Brien, Harkin and maybe Ward in it is as impressive as it's ever been but your defence will leak goals fairly regularly and you've nobody who can come close to scoring the goals Crowe got for you. No real back up either. You'll be in the top four but wont be one of the challengers for the league imo.

Good points. For me, the main change about Bohs is not just the players that have left, but more so the aura of danger / invincibility they used to have is gone. On paper at least, they look a much weaker team than over the last couple of years and not one to be feared as much.

Hardly. They were fifth last year, IIRC, so 2nd, with UCD, Harps and Bray gone, is hardly impossible, regardless of what Discontinuity Home Farm bring to it.

How the Sindo sees it (paraphrasing here)...

Bohs - If they get a goalscorer, they could challenge
Bray - Relegation condidates
Cork - Near, but not quite good enough
Derry - Top half
Drogs - Signings don't inspire confidence; also-rans
Harps - Nothing special; relegation candidates
Longford - Small part-time squad; relegation candidates (getting deja vu yet? :) ) if they get hit by injuries
Rovers - Tallaght could open in the First Division
Shels - Should win title
Pat's - Mid-table at best
UCD - Might escape relegation if Dupuy does well
Waterford - May flirt with relegation

So that's half the league down in the relegation battle! Talk about sitting on the fence!

I can see Longford finishing in a European spot.

Shels to walk the league, Bray to be relegated with UCD winning the playoffs.

While I hope it won't come to that, I can't see us, or just about any other Premier Division side losing a playoff. The standard of what's left in the first division is pretty awful and the top scorers outside of the promoted sides have (I think) all been signed by Premier Division sides.

(yeah I'm a pesimist and I'd love to be proven wrong)

I love it alrite:D

(im pretty sure that our most sucsessful 1/3rd of the season, points wise, was the final 3rd - the 1 completely without Eamo/Wes - that said I'm delighted they are back:cool: ).

I'm guessin nobody got the table 100% right

Rumour has it that we have signed Ciaran Kelly which will help reduce the amount of goals we let in last season!! :)Ye rarely used him in the end up.
