And all the trouble the 12 team league started first day .... surely 11 would never work !! :p
Predicitons 2005 season.
Three Tiers and I don't see it changing too much
1. Shelbourne
2. Cork City
3. Drogheda United (they will improve on last years outing)
4. Bohemians
5. Longford Town ( I think that this season will be more a league season then a Cup one, we have better personnel on board, beware the year of Deano.)
6. Derry City
7. Waterford United.
8. St Patricks Athletic
9. Finn Harps
10. Bray Wanderers
11. UCD
12. Shamrock Rovers
it's more on what I know rather than what I don't. Trying not to be biased. Might have LTFC up at 5th but there's never anything between 4th and 8th and that won't change. I don't see LTFC finish third or tenth, somewhere in between.
LTFC for 3-in-a-row.... ;)

Not a hope in hell of us winning the League Cup we are cursed in that competition... 20 years of not making the Quarter-finals broken by a run to the final in vain in 2000/2001. Otherwise spot on :D
Whatever chance of shel$ not winning the league they as guaranteed as anyone can be of finishing in the top 2.
I think (crappy) 12 team, 33 game league will mean huge gap between top & bottom 3.
Setanta Cup arrival means top 3 teams will have zero interest in league cup.
FAI Cup will have surprise winner & top league teams won't feature as distracted by europe.

Dublin Harp, have to disagree with you. This is Limerick's year. Promotion is our target - it might not be this year - but no more re-election for us. :)
I did this prediction before you got your good news about the takeover so I think you will finnish in the top half of the table now.

Athlone seem to be making some good progress during the close season, might be a bit of a dark horse. Monaghan have also made some handy signings, don't know how there managing to pay these players thou ? But they would want to make a MASSIVE improvement if they want finish that high ! They were by far the worst team i saw last season.

6. Drogs - dissapointing after all the signings
7. Rovers - good signings, well clear of the relegation dog fight
8. Derry - a work in progress
9. UCD - safety not an issue
10. Waterford - very poor season after last seasons exploits
11. Bray - push waterford all the way, stay up via play-off
12. Harps - only relegated on the last day of the season - VS. Bray :D

Since Derry won Premier in 1997 only Rovers have broken monopoly of shels, bohs & cork city in top 2.
Will anyone besides shels, bohs & cork city trio make the top 2 this season?

Yeah just checked twas 2001-2002 actually and Pats finished 3rd. Add on the 15 points and they had 5 more than winners Shels. When you add Pats into that equation it's not as predictable as it looks.

Don't worry, all these teams play in red, sometimes a sleepy mind finds it hard to differentiate. It'll be interesting to see though if the usual suspects in Bohs, Cork and Shels occupy the top three or can the Drogs get in there again or even Longford seperate them. Maybe even a resurgence from Pats or Shams, or a surprise from one of the rest of us. Can't wait for the new season.
