BRAY WANDERERS goalkeeper Chris O'Connor has been drafted into Australia's U-20 squad for the 2005 World Youth Cup qualifiers, which will take place in January and February in the Solomon Islands.

The 19-year-old, who joined Bray in 2003, kept 15 clean sheets in 33 games last season as Wanderers won promotion to the Premier Division.

"If he maintains his current rate of progress, he can go all the way," said Bray boss Pat Devlin.

Athlone Town manager Stephen Kelly has signed two goalkeepers in his bid to guide the Midlanders back into the top flight.

Former Shelbourne and Kildare County keeper Danny O'Leary will battle with Tadhg Murphy who has arrived from Bohemians for the No.1 jersey. Kildare County boss John Ryan has signed Bohemians midfielder Gareth Cooney, while Athlone have already signed Andy Noonan, Gavin Doyle and Alan O'Connor. Monaghan United have added Robbie Horgan, Gary Quinn and David Lee to their squad.

Fully deserved by Skip, by far the best young keeper in the eL. Still only 19 and is improving all the time.
