I am investigating travelling to see Milan v Man U at the san siro or Juve v Real in Turin for the second leg of the next round of champions league matches in March.

I've never travelled to the continent for a champions league match. Just wondering if anyone has made a similar trip and might have any advice on the best bet for picking up tickets? ... or any other general recommendations?

Hi,

Saw some matches in Italy earlier this year, you could struggle if you try and watch Milan v Man Utd as demand for that match will be exceptional - i'd imagine it will be a sell out plus there will be a lot of travelling fans in search of tickets. Juve v Madrid on the other hand will be easy to get tickets for, just go to the stadium early and you can pick one up on the day. The Delle Alpi never sells out, last Sat they played Milan in a top of the table, almost local derby match but there were still around 20,000 spare seats. View is actually q.good inside the stadium even tho it gets a bad press.

The cost is around €18 for a goal-end seat and around €35 for a pitch-side seat. Things to watch out for are the journey time from the city center to the stadium (can take an hour by bus and its difficult to tell your actually there), accomodation costs in Turin, and the weather - the stadium is bloody freezing.

Technically its possible to watch both matches as having watched the Juve match on Tuesday you could then get the train on Wednesday morning (takes around 2hrs costs c. €12) to Milan and try and watch the Milan v Man Utd match then. I thought about doing this when I was there, after watching Juve v Maccabi Tel Aviv, I thought about trying to watch Milan v Celtic the next day. In the end it wasnt possible as it seemed to be a sell out and also the price of flying back would have shot up (from €14 to €150) had I stayed in Milan an extra night.

This will probably be the case with Milan v Man Utd - you'll end up having an expensive flight back, whereas if you watch the Juve - Milan match but leave Italy on the Wed morning you could well find cheap flights.

Its a real shame they shifted the Inter-Porto match back a week instead of the Milan-Man Utd match, otherwise it would have been a possibility for you to watch both matches (Juve-Madrid + Inter-Porto) without excessive cost.

Anyway let me know if you need more info about hotels, flights, transport etc.

thanks for the information. very helpful ...

the plan i had in mind was to take in Milan v Man U on the tuesday and to head across to Turin for Wednesday's match. although it sounds like we'll have a work cut out for tickets to see Milan, wouldn't mind paying over the odds (somewhat over the odds) - although i have my limits. i was briefly considering Leverkusen on the Weds but BayArena was sold out within minutes of ticket release

thanks again.
