Double eircom League champions Shelbourne have received a boost ahead of their title defence after Cameroonian midfielder Joseph Ndo received a new work permit for 2005.
Ndo, a mid-season signing from St Patrick’s Athletic, faced an anxious wait for his clearance to sign a new deal with the Reds, but is now certain to stay on at Tolka Park for another year at least.
The 28-year-old was a member of Cameroon’s squad at the 2002 World Cup finals, and impressed many observers with his performances for Shels, notably in their home and away Champions League qualifiers against Deportivo La Coruna in August.
Ndo missed the final six weeks of the season with a groin problem which required corrective surgery, but is likely to be fit for the beginning of pre-season training at the end of January.
