Batman has been released - see eleven-a-side (http://www.eleven-a-side.com/ucd/irish_soccer_detail.asp?newsid=15166)

Strange to release him if we're after selling Willie Doye?

Possibly splitting hairs here but the story doesn't say that he's been released. He's merely on the list of players who are available to be signed. It's possible that we may sign him for next year if neither we nor he get a better option by the start of the season.

He wouldn't be on the list of players available to be signed if he hadn't been released though? Certainly no reason why we can't re-sign him (like Seán Finn last year), but that list is from the PFAI list (www.PFAI.ie) and is for players "who wish it to be known that they are available and open to offers of employment". A phone number is provided to contact the PFAI and all. Lookds likt we're going to make do without him.

Incidentally, this means he can't have been on loan with us like the UCD website was claiming. His previous club is listed as UCD, and we can't give him a free transfer if he was only with us on loan! Curiouser and curiouser...

But he wasn't under contract to us in the first place, he was on loan to us so it wouldn't be in our power to release him surely?

Why does this mean that he wasn't on loan? His last club presumably means the last club he played for, it would be silly to list his last club as CHF when he played for us for the second half of the season.

Niall Donnelly is on the list too - his last club is down as Drogheda, even though he was on loan to Athlone all season. So if he was on loan, it seems they'd have put Dublin CIty as his last club.
