"once upon a time i was falling in love now i'm only falling apart nothing i can say total eclipse of the heart"

a song that as a "serious" music listener i should despise but secretly like :o

jim steinman is always good for a power ballad ..

Summer of 69 isn't a power ballad. Too up-tempo. They generally reek of cheese.

November Rain- Guns N Roses

Unforgiven- Metallica

Arms Wide Open- Creed

Puddle of Mudd- Blurry

Nickelback- Someday, these are just a few examples

Bit of a heavy metal fan, almost all of them slow it down for one or two songs. Quite like them myself, you can get a few good ones but a lot of them are done just for the sake of it and sound too fake.

Why the shudder?

Many's the time I had an oul doll out dancing to some "power ballad" and more often than not, it led to a snog and a grope :D :D

Ahh Happy Days ;) :D

I thought it was, well its a classic anyway, maybe I sould change the words power ballads. I'm more looking for songs that are classics that one can just bellow out with 'emotion' with a bunch of friends. Other songs I've found good are AH-HA TAKE ON ME, TAINTED LOVE AND ROCKY. Any more suggestions with that cleared up please? :)

I'd say if you bellow out Last Christmas by Wham with emotion in front of your friends, you'd be gettin some serious looks!! :D

IN ANY PARTICULAR ORDER, i think you are looking for power riffs, not power ballads,

rainbow - since youve been gone
bon jovi - living on a prayer
kiss - crazy crazy nites
twisted sister - we're not gonna take it mmm \_/ metal
metallica - for whom the bell tolls
quiet riot -- (original not suedes ) cum on feel the noize
boston -- more than a feeling
here i go again
motely crue -- home sweet home
ozzy osbourne -- i just want you
black sabbath -- paranoid
g n r -- paradise city
skid row -- 18 and life
wasp - either wild child or fcuk like a beast

many more if i think about it

Yeah thats exactly what i'm looking for, power riffs really like Bon Jovi's Living on a Prayer

Metallica 'Nothing Else Matters', would that be classed as one?
Extreme 'More than Words' a definite contender? Or are we talking poodle hair metal here?
