Drogheda United defender Brian Kelly, out of favour at United Park since the arrival of Dutchman Jermaine Sandvliet midway through the 2004 season, has been linked with a close-season switch to Premier Division newcomers Bray Wanderers.
The tall defender, who can play at either left back or in the centre of a back four, is likely to leave Drogheda before the start of the new season in March.
Shamrock Rovers and St Patrick’s Athletic could both be interested in the 23-year-old former Middlesbrough trainee, but Bray are first in line for his services.
The Seagulls lost veteran left back Maurice Farrell to retirement after the end of their promotion campaign, and manager Pat Devlin is believed to be interested.
