So, same number of games played and same points. Coleraine though have to travel to Linfield, Glenavon and Cliftonville so odds must be on Crusaders. Coleraine have only lost 1 game all season and still not on top.

1 Crusaders 35 26 6 3 101 36 65 84
2 Coleraine 35 25 9 1 73 29 44 84

Both win at the weekend and now Crusaders face Cliftonville at home and Coleraine go to Linfield.

Crusaders at home to Clftonville then away to Ballymena. Coleraine away to Linfield and away to Glenavon. On paper Crusaders have the easier fixtures but at least Coleraine can be happy that they are on decent grass pitches. Mind you Ballymena fairly made Coleraine work for the win on Saturday and Cliftonville did Crusaders on their last meeting so let's see.
2 trips to Windsor Park for Coleraine in the next couple of weeks with the cup final v Cliftonville as well. Here's hoping it's not a booby prize.

Both teams dropping points and both having to come back from being behind. Coleraine looked dead and buried at halftime, they hadn't had a chance all first half. The penalty got them back in it and a great counterpunch for the second and were well on top till the end of the game. I didn't know what Oran Kearney says to them at halftime but it always seems to work, they have been very hard to beat. Good substitutions as well at the break.
Crusaders still favourites but either of them will be worthy winners. Crusaders home advantage hasn't really panned out with a lot of points dropped recently. So Coleraine have effectively 2 cup finals over the next week. Great climax to the season.

For Coleraine to come back from 2-0 down at Linfield - makes you wonder is their name on the trophy this season ?

In this we all love each other era, is there any possibility of Derry City joining the IL and would they be welcome in the unlikely event of that happening ? Their travel costs would certainly be reduced although I think the average attendances in the LoI are higher than in the IL so overall financially it might not be a runner.

Cant see it even if the next bankruptcy is disastrous. But if it did happen they'd be welcomed

There is debate on ILS about whether it would be feasible to have Institute play at the Brandwell next year. Suggestions they would play some 'home' games away where there is potential for trouble. Disappointing in this day and age but it shows part of why Derry returning to the IL is problematic.

Is it true that Derry City play in red and white stripes in recognition of their manager's, Bill Gillespie, career at Sheffield United? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Billy_Gillespie

I've heard it all now. To think I used to like them :)

Really strange that. Wikipedia: where would we be without it? And speaking of club colours, are Glentoran the only side in the IL which has green in its first team jerseys ?

In the second tier there is Lurgan Celtic and PSNI with green in their kits.

Norwich the only team with green in their kit in the top two tiers in England.

Remarkably tense finish on the way now.

Crues just gone 1-0 down away to Ballymena. Coleraine 0-0 away to third placed Glenavon. 25 to go. Coleraine must better Crues' result to take a first title since their only other triumph in 1974

2-1 win for Crues, while Coleraine can only draw. So they're second despite losing just one game all year.

That title challenge came out of nowhere I think?

A quiz question for the next year or two: Which side in the IL lost only one game all season and still didn't win the league? At least one subscriber on this Forum will be pleased through.

Well done Crusaders, did what they had to when it mattered. Coleraine were top of the league for about 15 minutes in the second half but were nervy all afternoon, they had trouble controlling the ball throughout and chances were few and far between.
Lets hope we get a reaction on Saturday now in the cup final, it's still a booby prize though. It was all the draws that did it for Coleraine especially for me the Linfield one, when Coleraine gave up a 2 goal advantage with just a few minutes left.

Nowt wrong with a booby prize. Cliftonville were the better team first half but Coleraine as they have been doing all season came back strongly in the second half. A couple of very fine goals too, well worthy of a cup final. Eoin Bradley didn't know if he was back with the Derry GAA for a few minutes there at the end there controlling the ball with his hand when it was nicely lobbed into him and then after, the way he took his goal chipping the goalie like that. 16 years since they last won it, time flies. Now for next years league.

It's been all Cliftonville in the early stages but Coleraine nearly score with their first foray into opposition territory!
The Reds were very nearly the masters of their own downfall as Brian Neeson and Jamie Harney go for the same ball, it drops loose to Eoin Bradley whose left footed snap-shot from the left of the box lands on the roof of the empty net.
