Just by way of comparison, or how your taste has changed.

For me
Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds - Abattoir Blues / The Lyre of Orpheus

excellent stuff

shouldnt that be How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb? Unless you're talking about the single, in which case you're off topic. hehe ;)

presume by vertigo, you mean 'how to dismantle an atomic bomb'?
(god, we're very annoying for picking up on the old technicalities aren't we?)
Some of the best albums need a while to catch on but i haven't heard much positive about that album.

Pretty sure it was Papa Roach - Getting Away With Murder. Not bad, got it on the back of some decent reviews and the single of the same name. Haven't been buying CD's lately.

Well he certainly has mellowed in his old age, but it's far better than the last couple of albums, where I thought he was starting to lose his way a bit. This one's a lot more uplifting in parts. Defenitley worth it IMO.

By the way, have you many of the Trojan box sets. I have the ska, skinhead reggae, rocksteady, and suedehead ones, and I would rate them in that order. Some excellent stuff on them. Maybe you're more into the dub/reggae end of it?

Noby

I have all the box sets except the Calypso one,Jamican R+B one the Creole one and the Ragga one.I wouldn't be into any of these either,I love the one's you've mentioned, excellent. The 35th anniversary one is really good too.Yeah,I suppose in more into the Dub side of things like King Tubby and The Scientist but listen to all the reggae stuff .

I'll try the cave album so,cheers.

MOst recent purchases have been largely retro. Was in Birmingham a couple of months ago picked up compilations by John Foxx ( original lead singer in Ultravox) and Jonathan Richman and THe Modern Lovers. I also bought Manifesto by Roxy Music which I have on LP already.

Do "Best Of"s count as albums? If so, then either Elvis or Percy French. If not...possibly the Boomtown Rats' sixth album (In The Long Grass) which I finally found on vinyl a year or two ago...

How to Dismember an Atomic Kitten by U2 was the last album I brought.
Before that Solarized by Ian Brown.

Got a few of the newer bands on copies, but frankly little that would make me buy them. Most of the stuff I do buy these days are back catalogue stuff. Proof I'm getting old.... :(

I got the Embrace singles collection for a fiver. At that price it's very much value for money.

I'm expecting a signed copy of the first Linkin Park album in the post in the next day or two as well, a parting gift from the American girl in Cork I was seeing. Her brother was in college with them or something. It's free to me and again at that price I'm not complaining! :)

KOL = finally went and got it. Very impressed
NERD = didnt like that album at all. Should stick to producing others' work

Whats the radio soulwax cd like??

They're good. Handy for the car. Cause when you get frustrated driving you dont need to start flicking channels/songs cos the songs change every 30 seconds or so.

Lifeblood-by the Manic Street Preachers. Another work of art by James and the boys. And what a performance in the Olympia last Tuesday. A class apart in an era of musical mediocrity.
