I think they should look outside the usual suspects. Word is Matthews,Cooke and Aaron O Callaghan are all interested

Jesus i doubt Cooke will be involved. If any of those 3 got the job there will be alot of ****ed off people in Athlone.
Is there anything to be said for Roddy managing both Athlone and Waterford?

Micky O'Connor must be due another turn.

Alan Mathews would do a fine job with Athlone. As a Longford man though i obviously don't want to see our most successful ever manager taking over that lot

No,heard he's hitching it down
I love the fact that there's even anyone even suggesting Mick Cooke might get the job. #GreatestLeagueInTheWorld

And is there some particular reason why he shouldn't?

didn't know that guess he won't be in the running so
Saw Johnny Glynn mentioned on another thread, but not here. Any particular reason why not? Done a superb job at Mervue and not that long out of League management surely? Lot less than Hendo, for example, and not much longer than Roddy, sure!
He would seem a decent choice. Certainly did well with Mervue.

Think he has a job with NUIG as head of the football department I'm sure that's a lot more stable than any LOI club particully one releasing statements like Athlone have done this season
This might have something to do with it.

Great result there. Hire him right now! He managed to do what many other managers fail to do. The only let one in against Dundalk. ;)

Judas! I think he'll do ok for Athlone for what it's worth, he'll get them back challenging for promotion I expect.

Wont be the most exciting football that's for sure, but he'll be well able to make the team solid and capable of grinding out lots of results, wish him well.
A proven failure
I think Athlone would settle for the type of failure he was with us...
