Disgraceful, and I mean absolutely and utterly disgraceful refereeing.

Didn't see us play Cork or Dundalk, but of the 9 teams I have seen us play, Pats are head and shoulders above all others on tonight's performance. Brennan, Forrester and Byrne destroyed us, some lovely one-touch play, a pleasure yo
watch. Noisy shower of fans too, but easy enough when your side plays like that.

Not a bad game of ball at all at Tolka tonight.
Us being reduced to ten men half an hour in just evened up the game I thought. Though the main difference between the two sides was a bit of confidence

One of the worst games I've ever seen in Tallaght, and I've seen some absolute classics over the past two or three years. The first half was quite eventful without having much quality, but the second half I don't think there was a single shot on target and 90% of it was just Rovers Crolying the ball around the midfield while Drogs defending their penalty box. Turgid stuff. Still, back to winning ways.

That's Fenlon for you. Ugly but effective.

Attractive in the sense they were passing the ball and trying things. Turgid in the sense Drogheda were able to sit back and expose Rovers' lack of creativity in the final third so, while they were playing good football, they didn't have the top 10% teams like Dundalk and Pats have to make complete dominance count on the scoreboard. See?

Nope. Again you've just commented Rovers lack of creativity and lacking that 10% of quality. Passing the ball and trying things isn't attractive football, that's just standard in football. I've yet to hear from any other fan at the match last night who would call that 'attractive'.
But again if that's the type of football you call attractive then more power to you.:sarcastic:

I was at Tallaght last night and IMO Rovers performance was awful , got a lucky goal on account of rubbish defending , did create a few other half chances and hit the bar in 90th minute- but in terms of quality/ entertainment value etc. it was 2/10.
We may be second and unbeaten with very few goals conceded but in terms of where we compare to Duns on any quality/entertainment scale any rational observer would put us miles behind- of course the only scale that will ultimately count is the final table next Oct

Great point for us in the circumstances. Wasn't there so can't comment on the performance or the sending off but being 6th after the first round of games is a very decent start.
Just editing to say it's a reasonably fair position from what I've seen. I've seen the teams above us, aside from Cork and I felt each of them was a better side than us. The fact that we're a good deal closer to the teams below us than those above us is accurate as to our current level I reckon. But as a promoted team that's great.

Listening to his interview he's getting all the excuses in. No sense that he has any idea how to turn it around, not that Jessica Farry would ask such a question.

Limerick not as bad as people think and table indicates, but need a win soon, Drogheda was the one that got away. Russell certainly deserves to be managing in the Prem Division and Limerick should ensure that if only some of soccer fans down there bothered to support the club. I went to the Derry game and you would have to feel sorry for Pat O Sullivan standing on the grass bank over in the corner.
While Jonathon Roache sacking Stephen Kenny sets a high bar, the decision by the Sligo board to headhunt Heary from Bohs must be up there as one of the most stupid decisions in recent times in the LoI
I don't think he was headhunted to the best of my knowledge but maybe you are privy to some inside information.
A terrible appointment it can't be denied now but was he top of the list at the time? Don't believe so.

I doubt he was headhunted. There's a relatively small number of managers who were out of work or out of contract at the end of last season, and Sligo probably saw Heary had done a decent job at Bohs, was willing to move for work and could take a couple of Bohs' young players with him. Before the season started, it looked like he'd done a pretty good job assembling a squad but clearly the problem is elsewhere.

Not sure what Powell was sent off for to be honest. He wasn't last man and both players went in with feet high for the ball. So unless something happened after he awarded the free I don't know why he was shown a straight red. Town could of had a penalty after Rice was pulled down in the box. After we went down to 10 we didn't offer much going forward. The back 4 were magnificent I thought, Deady was very solid at left back when brought on. Overall a fully deserved point for us. Weather conditions were atrocious but an exciting game nonetheless. An interesting spectator there tonight, former Town and Derry manager and current Dundalk maestro Stephen Kenny!

He wasn't 'headhunted'. He was picked by a panel of 4 guys who interviewed a number of applicants. It was the same panel that picked Baraclough. Apparently he wasn't the first guy to be offered the job, but that's the way it turned out for whatever reason.

Hope Sligo give Heary time because despite what the critics say the LoI is competitive and it is not as easy to be successful in it as many think. Johnny Giles found it hard going back in the day. Would Longford be the early over-achievers this season in premier division?

I tend to agree with ya there. Although the difference is that our budget is going to be more than a lot of teams this season. That and there seems to be no improvement, no plan and none of the flowing football that he talked about when he signed. He might turn it around but hard to see him been given the chance.

Also no idea why he won't pick Rossiter. He would have added great experience to their defence.

Yeah by all accounts he was very good in Drogheda. I wasn't at the game last night but they kept a clean sheet so he must have done OK. Experience alone can be valuable.

Powell got the ball but followed through and caught him knee high with the studs a certain red card but they should have had a man sent off for 2 footed lunge on shaw. Referee was awful .

I didn't hear that. That would be an absolutely mad statement. I only started watching at the start of the second half.
On another point, some real classy Bohs fans making some lovely gestures to Billy Dennehy as he was being helped off the pitch after being nearly knocked out.

Pretty poor game on a pretty poor pitch. Great equaliser from Evans though.
Anyone know how Dundalk's weekly budget compares with other sides near the top? Long way to go but they do look like heavy favourites....

So what? Happens everywhere every weekend when home fans don't like an away teams player. If its applause and niceties you want then maybe footballs not for you.

I think Powell is getting a hard time, I agree he was absolute muck at the start of the season, he looked to me to be a guy with absolutely no self belief, he is still poor enough but is actually getting better each game, the sending off could knock him back again Deady looks like a good full back (but is a poor enough winger imo) so he should fill in nicely for Powell being suspended
Rice has 3 bookings now, he probably would have got the penalty awarded if not for mouthing off at the ref again and getting booked for it, will he ever learn I doubt it

I doubt the budget is any higher than Cork, Rovers and Pats. So I don't know why you are bringing it up.
Although the result tonight might make us so called "heavy favorites" with all due respect it was only Bray. They were woeful defending set pieces and overall I never saw a worst Bray side.
There is still a long way to go. Plenty of time for key player's to be injured or lost to a foreign side

No links or anything but there was an article in the Sun a week or so ago by Neil O'Riordan that mentioned an FAI representative saying something like if league positions were decided on budget, Bohs would be in the relegation zone. Which makes our performance to date absolutely remarkable.
I would imagine Rovers and Dundalk would have the biggest budgets, probably in that order.

There's abuse and banter on the sidelines, but then there's a player who could have been seriously injured. Where do you draw the line in all fairness Stu?
Bray struggled at every corner Dundalk had, scored at least 3 maybe 4 goals from that.
It was a relentless display with the 7th and 8th goal coming in the last ten mins.
Anorak alert, David Cassidy's penalty (a definite one btw) was the first opposition league goal scored in oriel park since Dinny Corcoran put Bohs 2-1 up in August 2014.
