View Full Version : any rumours?

Ok, while the loss of some players makes disappionting reading, are we linked with anyone else? Has anyone heard any other rumours or perhaps this is the place to start some!

So far Andy Myler is the only rumour and that would appear to be between us and bohs. Myler certainly did a good job for drogs and Baker or Barrett could compensate for his lack of pace, although He will need to cut down on the amount of dives he takes to convince me.

So anyone else heard anything? I know its early days, but I'm dying to hear ANYTHING! :D

leon, rubbish. only players with 6 months remaining ontheir contract can speak to other clubs......

bad thread, we don't want pointless rumour flying about players under contract.....that has been said on this board before

Tapping is making an illegal approach to a player who is in contract. You have to go through a club (usually the manager) and ask permission to speak to a player in contract. A player with six month left can talk to another club and agree a contract.

Alan is confident of signing Myler and a team-mate of his by Monday, he spoke to them again last night and he feels there shouldn't be any hitches apparently..However a deal is never done until you have it signed, but he doesnt usually lose out when he says he's confident of getting them so we'll hope for the best, the other player is a good central defender or right back.

Hopeful anyway, I think Flancare dont want to lose him either so that may be of benefit to us when he's making his mind up, between the two jobs he may decide he wants to stay..He's told Drogs already he's not making
any decision until Jim Hanley returns next weekend from business..Last I heard Alan Mathews felt we had a good chance of keeping him but if he goes there'd be no hard feelings as he's done everything up front and honestly from the start

Wouldn't be surprised at all. Pip is really struggling to cement a place in the starting line up. Was recently talking to a close source of Pips who informed me how he feels really let down by Matthews. He felt he deserved to play in the Cup Final. Matthews puts it down to his lack of experience but Pip has played over 200 games in the Bray jersey if memory serves me correct? Feel sorry for him but that's life and that's football. A return return to Bray could well prove his best option and might rekindle his career.

Don't think he's gone yet anyway but if he does go he'll go with everyone's best wishes, Bray would be a logical choice for him and he'd do a good job

Was talkin to Pip last week. Dont think he's that happy with the current situation at the club. He wants first team action on a regular basis. Looks like he'll move back to his hometown club.

spoke to kirby on the pitch at the drogs game and asked him is he staying and he said "hopefully"-make what you will out of that

Signs are positive lately, I'd be quite hopeful of him staying on for another couple of seasons.

It says in The Irish Daily Star today that Matthews is hoping to get Droghedas Andy Myler, Danny O'Connor and Gary Cronin.

Longfordian

Hadn't heard about Cronin before..I forget where he plays..The other two are looking like they'll be with us next year alright. all going well..according to their offical site,Cronin plays left back or left midfield, well we do need another left sided player

Just wondering if the apparrent delay in closing this deal means that it's looking less likley. Is it a financial agreement with the drogs that's stalling it or is it the players themselfs?

Basically they have to be released from their contracts before we can sign them, or else Drogs will want transfer fees for them, I don't see us paying any money for anybody but you never know I suppose..

Or they might want Kirby in return. 3 decent players for Kirby?

Given that he's just signed a new deal, that'll hardly happen..we could give them McGovern if they'd have him!

I saw that alright, we'll have to wait and see what develops. Wouldn't be in Drogheda's best interests keeping them if they're insisting on an all full time set-up and the boys won't give up their jobs, they'd be stuck paying them but not getting any use out of them.
