Didn't find a thread for the Millwall striker, scored his first goal for the lions today

Played from the start too - sounds promising. Forde kept a clean sheet so far, just in time for Poland :)

Thought he might play today, the ground was good to firm, ideal for him.

Why? Is he fast?

No he just has small feet.

He ended up condeding two but was blameless. Westwood, actually, wasn't great for Rotherham's second goal against Wednesday, beaten at his near post and it seems pretty clear that Sherwood is sticking with Guzan over Given.

Should be given a lot of opportunities in League One if he stays at Millwall. We need a young striker to come through really.

Sky Sports Transfer News page a few days ago claimed that Crystal Palace, Swansea, West Ham, Everton, Ipswich, Bournemouth, Notts Forest & Brentford were all tracking him. Here's hoping. He's also in his final year of his contract with Millwall.

Ipswich and Brentford both interested in O'Brien and Millwall will accept £200k.

Banged in a hat-trick against Crewe today - has a good scoring record for us at various underage levels but doesn't seem to have had much of an impact at senior club level in the early years of his career. However, he's not yet 22, so he still has time to develop. Hopefully this is sign of things to come from a striker with potential and not a middling player having a really good day. With that in mind, manager Neil Harris had some very positive comments about O'Brien:

"first and foremost I need to talk about Aiden; what a hat-trick. He's got the ability and quality to do that. It wasn't just his goals, his all-round performance was good."

Bagged his 5th and 6th goals against Sheffield United today. That's from 9 starts and 12 appearances in total. Good tally.

Four in four games if you include The JPT game - let's hope he can turn this streak into consistent longer-term goal scoring form

Also, another aspect of O'Brien's game worth nothing is that he's managed to bag 4 assists already this season to compliment his 6 goals.

http://uk.soccerway.com/national/england/league-one/20152016/regular-season/r31471/players/?ICID=PL_3N_04

Conor Hourihane has a very healthy 5 assists in there too.

From that site

Aiden O’Brien (Millwall)

O'Brien opened his bag of mercurial tricks in October for Millwall. Able to go past defenders with ease, the young Irishman scored three goals while switching positions between attack and the wing.

Sounds good to me!

One of the best achievements of his young career today and it's marked with that monstrosity for a trophy. Can't imagine any self-respecting parent allowing that thing on their mantelpiece.

The goals seemed to have dried up a bit since getting player of the month. Himself and Callum O'Dowda have a chance of reaching Wembley in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy, Millwall play Oxford in the semi final first leg on Thursday night (Live on SS1).

Oxford have one foot in the final having won 2-0 at the New Den. O'Brien and O'Dowda both came off the bench, O'Brien with a half hour to play and Millwall trailing 2-0, O'Dowda in the 77th minute. He picked up a yellow card.

Pat Hoban also started for Oxford. David Forde and Shaun Williams started for Millwall, with Forde letting in a cross at his near post which will do his chances of retaining his place little good.

Saw this lad the other night at the Peterborough / Millwall match where his side lost heavily.

Started on the right of four, and for what he saw of the second half was one of a three up top. Millwall were basically route one all night, so he spent a lot of time fighting to flick on or similar battles. He did show nice control two or three times when he picked a nothing ball from the air, followed by a nice touch under pressure and a good layoff. He can play, but his side don't play much ball, or didn't try to the other night at least. His evening was defined by two good sights of goal he got when the score was 2-0, the first a one on one where he aimed to draw the keeper but took a touch too many and the keeper smothered it, the second a glancing header, unmarked between the posts and he flicked it wide. They were both presentable chances and just after the second one Peterborough made it 3-0 inside 20 minutes.

Soon after that the ball was pulled back to him in the middle of the goal, edge of the box and he tried to play it back where it came from when it really just needed a good thump at the goals. It was another chance but he didn't take it on, and looking at him that might have been a confidence thing after his two misses. He faded from there till HT a little but no Millwall player got any gold stars in this game. He came out fired up in the second half to give him his due, got involved and no hiding from him. On 64 minutes he was hauled ashore and his boss had a long chat with him when he reached the bench followed by a hug and a man tap on his head. A tough night for a young player but he kept getting back up.

Has gone a little under the radar recently, but after a few seasons of short goal scoring streaks and long droughts, O'Brien seems to have found form in front of the net this season, with eight goals including six in the last twelve games, adding another one today

If Millwall don't make the play-offs (they've an outside chance, 6 games left, 3 pts behind but much worse goal diff) I think he should go for the Mexico friendly.

Bamford has stated that he aims to break into the England team, Hogan appears disinterested in playing for us, O'Neill appears disinterested in Jutkiewicz, O'Neill cast doubt on Mason's interest.

So it is good to see a young Ireland (U-21) International potentially playing Championship football next season, as we badly need fresh legs.

Hard to gauge if he can improve on his potential from when he last played at Championship level.

15 in 57 at League One level is not awe-inspiring and similar to what Simon Cox achieved.

Paddy Madden has netted one in two at that level before injury problems stunted his progress this season, yet the Yeovil manager didn't afford him many opportunities at Championship level.

Good to see Shaun Williams, too, promoted.

Unsung, but a player who was deemed capable of stepping up to the Premier League by a couple of managers not that long ago.

Kyron Farrell, who is eligible, looks set to be released in the summer.
