Thats how to win a league?! DaveyPats it is refreshing for the ref to be the blame for a loss at Oriel these days!

You either missed the part were I said Dundalk would have won anyway, or chose to ignore it.

Sk seems to have aquired a sense of humour from somewhere.!
Should be interesting on Tuesday night to see what level Bohs can compete at.
Bray were awful last night, game wasnt helped by them not cutting the grass for the last three weeks? presumably to slow the ball down. Extratime had the crowd at 500 , looked to be twice that to me.

New strategy for this season - as the Longord fans nearly sussed out, we are spraying the pitch with Fanta orange on our attacking end and spreading Tayto crips on the other half

According to Cork City's twitter (https://twitter.com/CorkCityFC/status/580065106685509632), it is their 1,000th league match tomorrow, so the nerd in me had to check it. And to my surprise, it appears they might be wrong, another person can check it if they want, but what I have is:

Cork City (1984-2010) - 831
Cork City FORAS Co-op (2010-2010) - 33
Cork City (2011-2014) - 126
Cork City (2015) - 3

TOTAL: 993

Going back to Friday's game, the speed and accuracy that Dundalk move the ball at is very impressive, If they weren't hammering my team I probably would have really enjoyed watching it.

After looking at Soccer Republic last night, Oji can consider himself very unlucky to have been sent off. There was a foul but it didn't look like an obvious goal scoring opportunity as the goalkeeper was always going to get to the ball first.

Wasn't even a foul for me. Oji could have ran away from the ball and Mulvenna still would have caught up with him to manufacture the "foul".

Have to agree now that it wasn't even a foul. Seeing it live, I thought it could be given, but I mistook Oji's shoulder movement for a tug, when from the other angle you can see he was just getting out of the way.

Karma for Drogheda United then. Alan Byrne sent off for a challenge on the Limerick player in the box. It was a peno but was never a red card. Limerick player didn't have control of the ball when he was brought down and there were two Drogheda players covering him. He still had a lot of work to do.

Absolute wonder goal from Greg Bolger tonight for Pats. From half way line area (could even have been inside his own half, I'm not too sure.) Derry keeper Doherty injured himself going for it and had to come off. Game stopped for 8 minutes.

Very good performance by Bohs this evening.

Dundalk went ahead through a fortunate deflected goal and Bohs looked dangerous from every set-piece.

Bohs were very much in the game at 1-0 but Murphy got himself sent off needlessly. It's all well and good getting in teams faces but not if you are going to get yourself sent off.

Even with 10 men, Bohs continued to look dangerous but chasing the game left spaces that Dundalk exploited to score another two goals.

Great to get our first win. Going to be a bit of a dog fight between (probably) ourselves, Limerick, Drogs, Galway and Bray in the bottom half I reckon so any wins we get against those teams are important. Happy enough with our start so far overall. An improvement on our friends in Athlone's last year anyway ;-)

We were rubbish. 3 points is nice though. Great to see Sheppard get a goal, he has been one of our better players for the past few weeks.

Bennos goal was quality and you could tell it meant a lot to him. He's loving being home.

That pretty much sums it up, except to add that Tomney did his best to ruin a good game.Even the RTE report refers to him missing one clear handball in the first half which should have been a peno for Bohs.
Murphys sending off looked a fair tackle or marginal free to me, not a booking
Dundalk dont look as strong as last year.

There is no doubt that the ball hit Gartland's arm, but it would have been a very harsh decision to give a penalty.

RTE says: Adam Evans’ cross from the left flicked off the heel of Brian Gartland and skipped up onto his outstretched arm.

Dundalk dont look as strong as last year.

It is more that Dundalk have not yet hit the heights of last season - apart from Hoban and the shortage of options at centre forward, the squad is stronger. 12 from 12 is satisfactory start for a team yet to find form.

Bohs looked decent and will rue the sending off - without that, it is possible that they could have got something from the game

Thought it was a very harsh second yellow alright, and looked like a handball. Dundalk also defiantly had a penalty not awarded when McMillan was clipped as the ball went out for a goal kick.

Dundalk looked pretty poor alright with Finn in particular looking unsettled. Bohs dominated parts of the game alright, but Dundalk wont concede many goals with that defence. And thats what wins league titles.

I'd agree with you there, but for the purpose of having a bit of a party/generating some hype where's the harm in building up last night's midweek game. The actual 1000th league game is home to Dundalk on April 24 I reckon!

I've seen them given, it would have been very harsh though. I thought the McMillan penalty claim was more clear cut though, it was a stonewall penalty. However, getting penalty decisions in the LOI is a lottery.
