Two of the eircom League's rising stars have been chosen by Republic of Ireland Under 21 manager Don Givens in his squad of nineteen players for a special training session at Bisham Abbey from Sunday 27 January to Wednesday 30th January.

With no Under 21 game scheduled until 26 March when Denmark come to Cork, manager Givens sees this get together as an important exercise in keeping in touch with the players.

Bohemians' Brian Shelly and UCD's Robert Martin are the two eircom League players concerned and this is a first time call up for the UCD man. Shelly was involved in the Under 21 game in Flancare Park against Cyprus in the 5-0 win last October.

Also included is Patrick McCourt of Rochdale who was called up by Sammy McIlroy for Northern Ireland

They will join up with Graham Stack and Graham Barrett (Arsenal), Joe Murphy (Tranmere Rovers), John Thompson and Michael Cash (Notts Forest), Jim Goodwin, Michael Doyle and Liam Millar(Celtic), Brian O'Callaghan (Barnsley), Cliff Byrne, Brendan McGill and Thomas Butler (Sunderland), Shaun Byrne (West Ham), Duane Matthis (Huddersfield Town), Michael keane (Preston), Patrick McCourt (Rochdale),Robert Martin (UCD), Brian Shelly (Bbohemians) and Ben Burgess (Brentford).

Great to see Robbie getting a chance with the U-21s although he hasn't been playing so well recently.
