Yeah down at the academy grounds. It's a bit strange, and also on a day that kids are back at school.

If you could all vote form Harps on this we'd really appreciate it: https://twitter.com/FPLHints/status/1026912146616135681

Winning would get us some extra exposure in the Fantasy Football community and boost entries to our fantasy league. Every little helps!

Maybe the lack of wrestling proved confusing.

The guy running the poll was looking for a team to support for the year. He has a big twitter following through his FPL stuff and a very popular blog as well. As soon as he started pushing our Fantasy League last night we saw an uptick in entries. Not huge numbers or anything, but maybe a few hundred quid extra for Harps that isn't coming from the usual sources.

So we're getting a few quid out of premiership fans and people are taking an interest in us that usually wouldn't. It's not major, but it's all good.

We've announced our 2019 season ticket packages with a fab promo video. Package revamped slightly with a little gift pack, scarf pen etc. Early bird priced same as this season. Good value. Good to be capitalising on the buzz after the cup win. Our marketing and sales team gets a lot of stick, but they've gotten this one spot on.

I don't think this was a promotional activity by Bohs per se (I didn't hear about it anyway) but Fontaines D.C. (an up-and-coming indie-punk band) are apparently Bohs fans and did a photoshoot at Dalymount - few pics in this article (https://www.goldenplec.com/featured/fontaines-d-c-plec-picks-2018/).

I've been hearing a bit about these lads lately, they're starting to get a fair bit of traction. Could turn out to be another nice bit of promotion for Bohs, as if they needed it.

Not sure where to place this exactly, but it's close-ish to this thread, and an interesting read. Regards Larne and their funding, you could see the comparisons to what might have been at Galway.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/45930266

£2 million given so far, "potential" blank cheque being talked about, etc. Huge increase in attendances, that's without being promoted and being a town of 18k (though Carrickfergus is just down the road)
This all depends on the investor not getting bored and pulling out, mind.

"You’d put two or three scenarios on the table. And you’d have to take the [FAI] Cup into account as well — maybe have a one-off two-legged match, not a semi-final, because you’d be going down too far. Uefa aren’t too pushed on having teams too far down the league table coming in to their competitions. At that stage they would feel the weaker teams might come in, because you could win a one-off match."

It's an old chestnut but I still think it's something that should be trialled, if the clubs warmed to the idea. When the league format was changed, common sense prevailed that a split wasn't brought in at the end of the season.

3rd, 4th and 5th could enter a three way playoff similar to how the First Division have three teams in the playoffs. If one of the three have taken the Europe spot from the cup, the other two can playoff for the final spot.

You're playing off for the financial gain those qualifiers bring and the decent attendances the playoffs might garner by LoI standards as well.

I know all of that, but a load of lads jumping around celebrating behind a Europa League sign because they've qualified for a qualifier would be a big #GreatestLeagueInTheWorld moment.

That's a great initial return, particularly if each child was accompanied by a paying adult.

I have often felt that the real value of these promotions are ignored by a failure to follow up on those who attend to try to get them back again for the next home game.

For example a pre-match "meet a player" mineral and crisp reception with a further freebie ticket for the next home game, might get child and parent coming back again and in turn help develop the habit, as opposed to it being a "once-off" event

I saw that 'Fatboy Slim' (Norman Cook) donned a Boh's jersey and apparently had pictures of a Bohs NBB display as part of his show on Saturday night in the 3 Arena / Point. A previous NBB fans display used some of his lyrics and it was brought to his attention. The latest rock n roll addition* to Ireland's coolest club ;)

Is there any workable solution to reduce the midweek madness? The Premier Division possibly has 4 rounds of games too many and the First Division has probably around 4 rounds too few!

Are two divisions of 8 too far fetched? 28 games. Premier Division 7th v First Division 2nd in a straight forward playoff.

The League Cup could be exclusively for these 16 teams in a suitable and agreeable format that guarantees enough games in the early stages.

Schedule the final in the Aviva in May around the old FAI Cup final date. Offer the incentive of a European spot be it direct or an end of season playoff against the 3rd or 4th placed team.

(An intermediary type league would have to be below the First Division for the two divisions of 8 outlined. There was some talk of some form of third tier.)

I'd guess this would be classified as a promotion, Ryanair now have a facility for you to add Rovers tickets to your booking after booking flights to Dublin, plus a classic Ryanair fee of course. It'll be interesting to see the stats on it at the end of the season

I'm surprised that UCD agreed to that - assuming that they have a veto with it being a shared gate?

While a €5 admission price acknowledges the financial stress for committed supporters of four consecutive home games in 12 days (this EA Sports Cup match and 3 league matches), in my opinion there would be far higher gate receipts with €10 admission.

I've just seen a thing of the Longford social media guy sharing a Rovers highlights package saying that having the team lineup and formation helps opposition teams? I hope he's being sarcastic in reference to something I've missed? If not it's not a great attitude to have for one of the people meant to be promoting the league when by all accounts he does a good job on Longfords social media

Well spotted Mr A.

Of course, if the away club has no veto in the matter, seeking approval would be utterly pointless.

AFAIK normal admission charges must apply for shared gate cup matches unless both clubs agree to different arrangements

If it was a requirement (I believe it is), I would expect that non-compliance would be an issue that the FAI would pick up on. Their match assessors are routinely involved in overseeing agreement on matchday revenue sharing for cup matches.

Yeah, woudlnt agree myself as clubs do their scouting and knkw exactly what way teams line out but you'd be surprised at the amount of managers who won't allow their clubs media teams do things like that. Sure Tony cousins wouldn't let the club do match previews if there was team news in them, even if a fella was out for weeks he didn't want it public knowledge. Dinosaur.

I'm suspecting she decided she did'nt have enough of an issue with it to bother making it into an issue.
I know we had a LC match a couple of years ago where we wanted to do free in for kids (warning ..second hand info) and were refused by the visiting club because they took the view it woudl hurt the gate.
