Great to see Martin's son joins us. Does anyone know much about him? Should keep the English media busy over the next while. Would be interesting to know to what degree Martin influenced his decision despite Niall's comments.

He and Sweeney go the goals for Reading's under 21 team as they beat blackburn. Griffin, Long started and Shaughnessy came on from the bench. Liam Kelly was also on the bench

Anybody know if he's any good??

In one of the last Football Manager games (maybe 2013) he had the potential to be a superstar

Also with Keown, Long, Sweeney & Griffin Reading U21's seem to have an all Irish defence!

Why would it keep the English media busy?

I could have sworn someone asked that lad on Twitter if he was eligible and he said no.

Maybe I imagined that.

Maybe I imagined that.someone asked Lewis Kinsella on twitter and he said he wasn't eligible.

Martin Keown's parents were both born in Ireland so Niall is eligible.

On the bench for Reading tonight. They're drawing 1-1 with Brighton.

That was a nicely-choreographed PR stunt all-round.

It doesn't really matter does it, as some genius on here reckon that he is ineligible because twitter said so, supposedly, and didn't take the time to read the article attached. Good to see him make his debut. Hopefully he has a very bright future for Ireland.

Well he has a good 2 years to change his mind and declare for England :D

I may refer to this post in 2 years time!!!:devilish:

Funnily enough I was looking at the Reading squad in wikipedia earlier and noted
the large number of Irish in it ( 6 out of 14, including Niall).

6 out of every 14 Reading fans believe Elvis is still alive also.

He won't be good enough to be hyped for them.

I did read the article, gastric. Is there any need to post such a silly comment?

Anyways, it turns out I was imagining it.

TOWK

I think it was more about your usual over enthusiastic reaction (not) to news of another Brit coming on board

On silly comments, it mentions in the article that his grandmother is from Galway and his grandfather is from Fermanagh which makes him eligible. Then you mention that you heard on twitter that he is not eligible. Hence my sarcasm!

I was going to say he looks a lot like martin, which is a good sign, until I discovered the picture on the link is Martin! :peaceful:

Starts today and Reading are losing 1-0 after one minute.

I wonder what the other promotion chasing teams think of Reading starting such a weakened team?
