The FAI invitation has been announced on Radio Kerry this lunchtime, and a KDL meeting is expected to overwhelmingly approve, but as with previous ventures, one must ask what the long-term result will be if the KDL considers First Division applications to be too costly? Ultimately, Cork and Limerick would contract the adult players, leaving junior soccer poorer anyway?

Talk a while back that the Galway DL were keen to enter, but were told by FAI that no DL teams would be allowed.

Talk as well that Mervue and Salthill will be dropped from u19s and entering u17s.

Wonder what bullsht excuse they will give to obstruct GUFC or GFA from entering.

Thankfully, the latest article suggests that once the U-17s graduate, the intention is to move on to the under-19 league, but will the players be content to stay in Kerry once they reach 21?

Common sense suggests they'd eventually progress into the League of Ireland in some form of Kerry FC or something of the like.

Kerry seems to have a fair bit of clout in the FAI.

Yes, they agreed to enter a team, just remains for the FAI to ensure the application's in order.
