Gaffney's got a good head on his shoulders. Always good to see an any player being pro-active about getting ready for a life after football.

Rovers have risen to 3rd place in League Two - the automatic promotion spots - for the first time.

Gaff returned from injury on Saturday to play 50 minutes in a 4-1 win away to Newport County.

On Friday we start the easter period with a home game against Cambridge United - the team he was so desperate to leave for us. You can be sure he or his replacement at Cambridge, Williamson, will notch. Let's hope its the GAS.

Played most of yesterdays 3-0 win over Crawley Town. Bristol Rovers third with 6 to play.

Gaffers hasn't scored in a few games but we're all still very happy with his performances - and his partnership with Matty Taylor has led to Taylor becoming the English Football Leagues top goalscorer, with 25 league goals. Most of which were scored after Gaffney came in.

Gaffney scored for Bristol in a 2-1 win at the weekend, but they were held 0-0 at the weekend and are out of the automatic playoff spots.

Apart from runaway division winners Northampton, it's very tight in League 2, with only 2 points separating 2nd from 5th.

Just checked up there. Bristol Rovers doing fairly well in League One, currently 8th after 18 games, outside play-off places only on goal difference. Gaffney has 13 appearances and one goal.

Scored from a yard out in their home 2-1 defeat to non-league Barrow in the cup (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=niAxxmGbSmA).

Had some very nice touches to set up chances, and hit the post/crossbar with a rasping shot, but also missed a good chance late on trying to react to a deflection.

Bristol Rovers actually managed to stay in play-off contention nearly all the way to the end of the League One season. Gaffney scored both Rovers goals in a 4-2 loss to Peterborough the other day. Nine goals this season, in 39 appearances, all comps.

Five goals for Bristol so far this season, latest in a 6-0 thrashing of Northampton. Bristol don't look like doing much this season though.

Gaffney leaves Bristol Rovers and joins National League team Salford City.

A disappointing step down for him.

Promoted as National 1 champions - will be promotion contenders with plenty money - might turn out to be a good move for him.

That's the "Class of 92" side right? Worse places to end up I suppose.

yeah, the Neville brothers, Butt, Scholes, and Giggs all invested in the club. Remember that the next time Gary Neville is complaining about outside investment ruining competition in football

Gaffney is doing professional accounting exams or at least he was. He probably would have picked up a League Two club handy enough but I'm sure Salford would be an enjoyable and well-remunerated place to be and he'll have more time to focus on his career outside football in that league. Makes a lot of sense for a man of 28 who is unlikely to go past League One and came to professional football late and perhaps unexpectedly.

Adam Rooney should have been involved too but bizzarely injured himself...

Salford win easily enough, though Gaffney didn't play. He's a Football League player again next season so, if he stays there.

Only just found out that Gaffney is on loan at Walsall, not doing so great: https://www.expressandstar.com/sport/football/walsall-fc/2019/12/28/walsall-boss-darrell-clarke-get-behind-rory-gaffney/

I wonder if he'd be tempted back to LOI as he enters what I presume will be the later stage of his career.
