Confirmed as new Drogs manager with Mark Kinsella as his assistant: http://www.droghedaunited.ie/news/post.php?s=2014-11-28-mcdonnell-new-drogs-boss

Presumably KeepersBall picked him up from Drumcondra.

What was the length of McDonnell's contract with Shelbourne.

Shelbourne may be due compensation from Drogheda.

Two positive appointments for us.

In saying that, the other candidates weren't exactly mind-blowing - One manager who has won 8 games in 2 years and another who has flirted with relegation all his career.

The two should make a good team with Johnny's familiarity with the league and Kinsella who has some decent coaching & obviously footballing experience and apparently was very enthusiastic about the whole thing. It should work out well for us.

Not an issue.

I doubt he had a contract. Far as I know McDonnell just agreed a few weeks ago to stay on for another year but would be surprised if he signed anything.

That is what I was wondering. Shels did say he resigned. That usually infers a contractual relationship.

I don't think Shels worry all that much about things like contracts.

Good move for him, hope he does well, decent fellow would always stop for a chat when in the Carlisle Grounds.

I understand that Drogheda have refused to accept any compensation from Shelbourne for taking McDonnell.
