Don't know why I immediately assumed that'd be Mick Wallace.

Any word on who's likely to re-sign with athlone yet? Surely the likes of Gorman, Sweeney and Dillion will all move on?

Hearing Gorman, Aido Collins, James O'Brien and Paul Skinner all agreed to stay on. Not sure if its true though and just a rumour at the moment. Seems our budget wont go down too much so we should be able to keep quite alot. I would expect Sweeney to stay. As for Dillon, i can see him moving to Bohs along with a few other players. We should have a squad capable of winning the league. Only time will tell though i suppose.
It seems Wallace was the man calling the shots last season, rather than Long. Alot saying he was the one who signed players and took most of the training. So maybe this could work out better for us in the end.
At the same time, im very thankful for what Keith done for us and the effort he and the players made to keep us up. Was just too little too late in the end.

Athlone Town have moved quickly to appoint their new manager.
Following Keith Long's departure to Bohemians this morning, the club have announced Long's former assistant Eddie Wallace as the next boss.
Athlone say they hope it'll maintain continuity and insist they have the budget to maintain last season's squad despite making the drop back to the First Division.
In a statement this lunchtime Town's Committee say they don't want a repeat of the 18 years in the second flight and believe Wallace's appointment is a 'statement of intent'.

Sorry to see Athlone go down.
I was hoping they'de make it at the end but it took too long for Cooke to move on.
Continuity is important now if they're not going to fade away in the 1st div again.
Good luck for the new season & hope they're up again at the end of it.
