Well lads, some of you who keep track of the artwork I make will know I'm working on a little project at the minute where I'm creating a print series of various LOI legends and icons. So, I'm just looking for your own favourite players at your clubs, I've my own ideas of who would be appropriate where, and have done an Osam and Hunt piece so far for Pats and Bohs naturally. I'll pop them in the bottom of the post if you'd like a look.
I'm including 1st division clubs in this by the way, one person I'm mulling over at the minute is Joey Ndo, I'm thinking he's possibly most appropriate at Sligo, but I'm unsure, what do Sligo fans think? There's a lot of people to choose from at the traditionally bigger clubs, while there's other clubs where I wouldn't really know where to begin!
Any imput at all is much appreciated. My website is linked in my signature, and that contains links to all my various other stuff just if anyones interested in what the hell I do with my life!

Brilliant stuff, a Killian Brennan or Keith Fahey one would be great when you're finished with all those lesser players from lesser clubs :)

Colm Notaro please
Much as I love Ndo, for me personally Tony Fagan is the most legendary and iconic figure from our history.
His weather beaten mush would look great as well in that style.

Johnny C for City would be great and relevant right now. He scored a cracking volley at the weekend to bring his goals tally to City to 130!

They're fantastic.
Davey Barry or Deccie Daly both epitomise Cork City also.

Sligo is surely the club where Ndo has had the most enduring impact, compared to his other clubs.
Not sure who I'd have for Rovers. Possibly Eamon Dunphy?

Always a hard choice for me between Barry Kehoe and Tommy McConville, but has to be Tommy. Sad both are no longer with us.

If Acornvilla draws all of these you lot will have to buy at least one each. For the record I'd buy a Notaro one if it was him in a Town kit with his truck.

The chiseled features of Martin Lawlor or a mad-eyed Dermot Kealy would be special.

Good stuff, thanks a lot! Keep the suggestions coming lads! Few names in there I'd never have thought of, so plenty of food for thought. Depending on how the series goes, yeknow yerself, if I get some sales and I have the time, I'll likely keep tipping away at this indefinitely and when it's appropriate, do more than just one player for specific clubs.
I'm tipping away at an Ndo piece at the minute, I can't not really, and have plumed for Sligo as his team, but Mr Fagan will be revisited, some head on him! :D
I'm having similar difficulty with someone like Jason Byrne, where would I place him?... Did a lot for and with Bray, Shels and Bohs. I'd have 100% picked Bray had he not returned to Bohs for a second spell and just played out the rest of his career with Bray. The contribution at Shels was also pretty immense, I'm leaning Bray still at the minute. Won an FAI cup there, lots of goals, and saved them last season.. Input appreciated!

As a Bray Supporter, perhaps Colm Tresson or Bo McKeever (Bo only ever played LOI for Bray)

I'd go with Colm Tresson or Tarzan. Two out and out Bray men. Tresson is probably the best player the club has ever had

Really excellent drawings.
Question tho from looking at your online shop you seem to cover a lot of players, what do you do about royalties to those players? Is it an issue ?

Honestly, it's something I've done a little research on, and there's not a lot of info out there I can find. I talk to a lot of lads who do this sort of work professionally however, and they generally have 0 problems, however there can be image rights issues where clubs are concerned, I've heard of a few premier league clubs threatening artists for making work involving their crest etc, as it could be competing with some of the clubs own merch...
It generally seems to be a case of no one really cares, it's not hurting anyone's image, or taking money away from them so there's no reason to seek payment, most artists wouldn't be able to afford to pay them anyway to be honest. Most lads take it as a compliment if you make the work, Some have even bought prints of themselves :P
It's a different story, if it was fan art from movies, video games etc as you're re appropriating someone elses artwork, and in that situation any work you create even if only loosely based on the original art, is actually their property and illegal for you to sell. People still sell the stuff obviously, and for the most part no one raises an eyebrow, but I do know nintendo have come down on people occasionally to make examples.
So this football lark could be loosely similar in that there could be the possibility of a need to seek permission from the players, but there's not a snowballs chance of it ever being actually necessary to do so.
Hope that helps! Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, any legal whiz'

We'll give him another year or two to win a bit more, although if someone wants one done specifically they can always PM me about it :P

Chick Deacy for Galway United.
He won a league medal with Aston Villa and returned home to play for Galway United but wouldn't take a penny. He was still playing junior football until his untimely passing.
