Interested in hearing from fans of the Dublin clubs as to which of their fellow Dublin club they see as their main rivals.

I know this will be more obvious for Rovers and Bohs fans but will be interesting to see if say Shels' see their current proximity to Bohs over founding proximity with Rovers as more important. Or if the points deduction of the 2001-02 season points still takes presidence for Pats fans over more recent battles with Rovers.
With giving the three clubs in order it will also show which are the least important for each club. Going to guess Bohs vs Pats would be mutually the least important?

Also what club outside of Dublin is the fixture that holds the most importance each year to you?

If you can give:

Your club name
Main Dublin rival, 2nd Dublin rival, 3rd Dublin rival
Main rival outside of Dublin.

Thanks, oh and less of the Rovers don't play in Dublin or any UCD related answers! ;)

Shelbourne
Pats (I grew up in Ballyfermot so that'll do it), Bohs (they're the neighbours), UCD... kidding, Shams (I flip between them and Bohs as the second rivals, but Bohs for now)
Limerick simply because we have had to play them for ages in the FD and then they got out and stayed out and of course for "THAT" goal.

But as a Dub I always have an inherent dislike for Cork teams all the time. So in time that rivalry will come back to the fore for me.

We do have a rivalry with every Dublin team (...maybe bar Pats...), but in recent times certainly our fiercest rivalry has been with Shels... the games were always huge events during the Ollie Byrne era. Also on a personal note, the first trophy I saw us win was a cup final v Shels in 1998 in Dalymount, and even at a young age I remember it was clear that we were being screwed over having to travel to Dublin twice for a replay.

(sorry to crash the thread)

Since we got relegated the energy to give to my Cork hate has been spent elsewhere. :)

I miss Fingal for a pure rival at that time.

It depends what Pats fans you speak to, some hate Shels the most (like really hate, proper hatred) some hate Rovers more.

Pats Bohs isn't really a thing. Don't think we pay much attention to each other.

Outside of Dublin personally I like to see Dundalk lose and Derry, yeah Derry can **** off.

Shamrock Rovers

#1 Bohs obviously #2 Pats as the other southside team and for competitive reasons #3 Shels as the other team originating in Ringsend but we don't take much notice of them

No particular rivalry with anybody outside Dublin bar Termonbarry Alberts, but everybody hates them

Derry City

Main Dub Rivals: Rovers, Shels and Bohs in that order.

Outside: Finn Harps, wouldnt really consider any of the provincial clubs a rival

Pats
Its switched over the years
As a kid it was probably Shels. God i hated them, hated them so much. But once they got shelegated and Ollie and the horrible players they had left, its not as easy to find that hatred. I do try, i really do. But when we played them in the cup, it wasnt the same hatred. You look at a team of kids that you dont know, a bunch of schooligans that probably couldnt tell you what Ollie looked like, and it was just different.

Growing up in "Rovers area" , there was alwasy massive hatred for them, so they were probably tied with Shels years ago, but now take first position. I could list all the things i hate about them, but i wont. Suffice to say, there are plenty. If i think about it long enough, it feels very similar to the old Shels hatred.

3rd ... probably Bozos. But i'd never get too bothered by them. Games in Dalymount are very Meh. Games in Richmond there seems to be a bit of "spice" to them - which can make it good.

Outside of Dublin.....Cork...Cork....Cork....Cork.

If anyone truly hated another team, they wouldn't give them the satisfaction of admitting it here

For a while when we were both in our pomp and Rovers were muck, it had to be Shels. I loved those games and Tolka was one of my favourite away matches for an electric Derby atmosphere.

For real rivals though, there is no contest. Rovers all the way. Years of hatred between fans of both clubs. We could both be playing LSL and we'd still have a rivalry. Long may it continue.

Pat's, well I've always had a soft spot for them and I'd be happy if they won the cup, even though it would mean Rovers getting into Europe, as I know how much it means to the supporters of the club.

Nah, we all know Nutsy's record in Europe anyway, so nothing to fear. Plus he'll already have the money well spent long before they go out in the 1st round.

Typically Bohs would need two sets of accounts.

Ah sure that Derry doesn't exist anymore. No need for two sets.

I was going for the whole Bohs have one accounts for the part of the club they own and another for the part of the club they sold or something... I've lost interest now.

Up Dundalk!

Well it worked for a time. It's been roundly discredited however. I wouldn't implement it.

Then again, we can sell you a biscuit tin if you really want it. I assure you it's ours to sell.
