Sligo Rovers midfielder, Stephen O’Donnell, has earned an international call-up — with the Irish Army’s UN mission in Lipljan, Kosovo.

A soldier with the 28th Battalion at Finner Camp, O’Donnell will spend the next six months in Kosovo as part of the United Nations Defence Forces.

“It’s always nice to get away and experience different parts of the world so I’m looking forward to the Kosovo assignment”, he said.

“I really enjoy playing for Rovers and their passionate supporters”, he said. “The club has great potential and things really started to come together towards the end of the season with the appointment of a new manager”

O’Donnell will be in Kosovo for six months but he has been assured that he is part of Sean Connor’s plans for next season.

Great, that's us fecked up for the start of next season!
