Just looking through the old records and see that neither Bohs or Shels have ever won two in a row. I remember the chant against Bohs, but didn't realise Shels hadn't either. Strange given the success of both clubs, but they swapped titles in the late 20s/early 30s just like they have done for the last few years.
Maybe it's an omen for the next week...
For what it's worth the clubs to win back-to-back are
Rovers (one 2 in a row and one 4 in a row in the 80's)
Cork United (3 in a row and 2 in a row within six years, just missed out on a clean sweep of 6 in the 40's)
Drumcondra (2 in a row in the late forties) before..
Cork Athletic won another 2 in a row
Pats got one in the mid 50's and again recently in the lat 90's
Waterford had the best spell of all with 6 from 8 between '66 and '73 including a 3 in a row and a 2 in a row
Will $hels ever do it???
