Some Big games to be played now

Be interesting with City Traveling to Clonmel

Moyross home draw huge for them and will be tough for North end to travel there now.

SYC and Micheals the final everyone wanted to see but again they meet earlier. I think Home advantage will sway the tie SYC way

Liffey/Neanagh V Donnycarney this game will be a lottery I think and real will be who is best over the 90 mins

Think these fixtures are to be played 21st/22nd March. If thats the case it'll be the third leg of 3 big gmes in a row for City Utd.

Sunday 8th March - City Utd 4 - 0 Boyle Celtic, these 2 are streets ahead of anything else in Sligo/Leitrim and have been Champions for the last number of years. Boyle held St Michaels to a 0-0 in the 6th round, Micks won 1-0 aet.

Sunday 15th March - City Utd v Westport Utd in the last 16 of the Connacht Cup, Westport are always there or thereabouts in the latter stages on Connacht Cup and usually get a decent run in FAI

Sunday 22nd March - Clonmel Celtic v City Utd, probably biggest game in City's history.

I'd fancy them to take care of Westport, but Clonmel will be a much tougher prospect and would be surprised to see City win down there.

From The Junior Soccer Portal, a club by club guide:

Sheriff YC (Dublin)Manager – Alan ReillyCaptain – Paul MurphyBackground – Probably the best known side in Junior soccer at the moment following their back to back FAI Junior Cups in 2012 and 2013, they were knocked off their perch in 2014 by St. Michael’s. The Tipp side defeated them in last year’s semi final thanks to a sublime piece of skill from the Saints full back Brian Buckley, but the Dublin side are back at the business end of the Junior Cup again.32 goals in six matches and just three conceded have shown Sheriff’s intent in this year’s competition. A team that is littered with experience and Junior internationals they can boast the likes of John Lester, Lee Murphy, Keith Dunne and Darren Dunne, all of whom have plied their trade in the League of Ireland.Path to the Quarter FinalsRound 2 (A) Real Transalvania 8-0Round 3 (A) Usher Celtic 4-1Round 4 (H) Collinstown FC 3-1 (AET)Round 5 (H) Ardee Celtic 8-0Round 6 (H) Tramore FC 6-2Round 7 (H) Westport Utd 3-0

St. Michael’s (Tipperary)Manager – Jason PurcellCaptain – James “Chalky” WalshBackground – Reigning Champions St. Michael’s defeated Limerick’s Ballynanty Rovers 4-0 in last year’s FAI Junior Cup Final at the Aviva Stadium. This was their first Junior Cup since 1974. The Tipperary side, managed by Jason Purcell, a Junior Cup winner with the famous Fairview Rangers team, dispatched two-in-a-row winners Sheriff YC in last year’s semi final 1-0 to secure their place in the showpiece final. With a back line of experienced Irish amateur internationals including Ireland’s most capped amateur International, James Walsh, they have kept clean sheets in five of their six games in the Junior Cup so far. Tricky winger Jimmy Carr was the star of last year’s final with two goals and an assist at the Aviva Stadium and will be the one to watch as they look to defend their crown. Clonmel Celtic (Tipperary)Manager – Kenny O’Shea & Karl CondonCaptain – Craig CondonBackground – A relatively new team with the club only formed in 2003, the Tipperary side have won the Tipperary South and District league and the Tipperary Cup. With 25 goals scored and just three conceded in their six outings in the Junior Cup so far they have been performing well at both ends of the pitch. They also boast some League of Ireland experience with Kevin Waters and Andrew Cosgrove. Both played with Waterford United while Waters also had a stint with Limerick. Luke Kiely was also capped for Ireland at Under 16 level.Path to the Quarter FinalRound 2 (H) Roscrea Utd 2-0Round 3 (H) Galbally FC 9-0Round 4 (H) Slivedarragh FC 5-0Round 5 (A) Tower FC 4-2Round 6 (A) FC Sportslink 3-0Round 7 (A) Clonmel Town 2-1

Donnycarney FC (Dublin)Manager – Thomas HearyCaptain – Mark LudlowBackground – The baby of this year’s competition, with the club only formed in 2011, they have a well known face at the helm. ThomasHeary played over 90 times for Huddersfiled before stints in the League of Ireland with Bohs and Dundalk amongst others. Brother of Sligo Rovers manager, Heary is probably best remembered for playing alongside the likes of Damien Duff and Robbie Keane in Brian Kerr’s golden generation of Irish underage teams.Donnycarney are the penalty kings having come through the last two rounds on spotkicks, knocking out Wayside Celtic and RivervalleyRangers to secure their place in the last eight.Path to the Quarter FinalsRound 2 (H) Eastwall Rovers 4-0Round 3 (A) Liffey Valley Rvs 2-0Round 4 (H) Athy FC 4-1Round 5 (H) Knocklyon FC 4-1Round 6 (H) Wayside Celtic (5)1-1(4)Round 7 (H) Rivervalley Rgs (6)0-0(5)

Moyross United (Limerick)Manager – Philip PowerCaptain – Keith ColbertBackground – The only Limerick side left in the competition, and continuing the county’s strong tradition in having representatives in the latter stages of the trophy. Scoring 13 goals away in their first game of the competition this season they found tougher tests along the way to the Quarter Finals, particularly the last round when they defeated a highly fancied Carrick United side, 2-1.Path to the Quarter FinalsRound 2 (A) Bruff Utd 13-0Round 3 (H) Shannon Utd 2-0Round 4 (A) Hill Celtic 1-0Round 5 (H) Cobh Wnds 4-1Round 6 (A) Clondalkin Cel 3-0Round 7 (H) Carrick Utd 2-1

City United (Sligo)Manager – John ConlonCaptain – Keith NibbsBackground – City United have been the dominant side in Sligo Leitrim football in recent seasons. They boast a host of former League of Ireland players with Colm Jinks, Keith Nibbs, Ross McLoughlin, Keith Carty, Neil McKenna and Damien Scanlon all turning out for the likes of Sligo Rovers, Dundalk, Longford and Athlone. The Sligo side has made arguably the most impressive run through the competition. Having comprehensively beaten 2013 semi finalists Carew Park 4-1 in Round 5, they then had two trips to Dublin. They defeated Cherry Orchard 2-0 and followed that up with a penalty shootout win over Crumlin United having equalised in the 91st minute to send the game to extra time as part of a 2-2 draw.Path to the Quarter FinalsRound 2 (H) Conn Rovers 3-1Round 3 (A) Castlerea FC 5-1Round 4 (A) Aughanagh Cel 12-2Round 5 (H) Carew Park FC 4-1Round 6 (A) Cherry Orchard FC 2-0Round 7 (A) Crumlin Utd (7)2-2(6)

Nenagh Celtic (Tipperary)Manager – Robbie Ryan & Kevin FlanneryCaptain – Jimmy HynesBackground – Still to play their last 16 tie with Liffey Wanderers but despite that, this is the furthest the Tipp side has been in Junior soccer’s glamour competition. A win against the Dublin side will see a strong representation of sides from the Tipperary with three sides in the last eight from the Premier county. They will not fear a trip to Irishtown to take on Liffey Wanderers having dispatched of Valevew Shankhill on their own turf in the last 32. Their League of Ireland experience comes in the shape of Mark Walsh who played with Athlone. He was also capped for Ireland at youth level.Path to the Quarter FinalsRound 2 (H) Redmondstown FC 4-1Round 3 (H) Vee Rovers 6-0Round 4 (H) Oldbridge FC 4-3Round 5 (A) Leeview FC 2-0Round 6 (A) Valeview Shankill FC3-0Round 7 (A) Liffey Wanderers FC

Liffey Wanderers (Dublin)Manager – John YoungCaptain – David AndrewsBackground – The oldest club left in the competition having been formed in 1885, the team from Irishtown will be hoping to make it successive appearances in the FAI Junior Cup Quarter Finals. They will host Nenagh Celtic for a place in the last eight. Having reached the Quarter Finals last year they lost 1-0 to eventual finalists Ballynanty Rovers from Limerick. They have pedigree in the competition albeit when it was the Empire Cup winning three-in-a-row in 1904, 1905 and 1906. Having already knocked out 2013 finalists Kilbarrack United, Liffey will have an eye on going at least one step further this year provided they can get past a tough Nenagh Celtic Side.Path to the Quarter FinalsRound 2 (H) Blessington FC 3-1Round 3 (A) Ayrefield FC 0-2Round 4 (H) Kilbarrack FC 1-0Round 5 (A) Mervue FC (4)0-0(3)Round 6 (A) Villa FC 3-0Round 7 (H) Nenagh Celtic

He may have been there for his interview later in the evening but apparently not for the photos before the draw and this is backed up by the photo outside the Aviva featuring just 8 captains when there were 9 clubs in the draw. (Maybe I should have been a detective).

St Michael's protest about pitch in Dublin statement on aul website

Following concerns raised regarding the suitability of Clontarf Astro to host the FAI Junior Cup quarter final clash between Sheriff YC and St.Michaels this Sunday I am delighted to say that the FAI Junior Council Key Committee paid a visit to the venue and declared it suitable to stage the game. Nothing has changed in this venue for the last four years and in that time it has staged Senior Cup games against Airtricity sides Dundalk and Longford Town without any issues so for these concerns to be raised at this time baffles everyone.

out come the hankys .why not cut the fai draw to the elite 10 clubs in ireland all together .my point is delaney has no probs taking all the small boys money at the start dugouts or not.

Let's be honest here if we played our league parallel with our national league the use of Astro would not be needed as we wouldn't have so many games off from Oct to feb. And clontarf astro being the only pitch close enough to the city centre for Syc to play.

2 of the 1/4 finals will be played on astro

Syc V micks

Liffey V Donnycarney

I don't hear complaints of donnycarney and Liffey playing on astro.

Nothing beats playing on grass but SYC have been playin on astro for awhile now and i havin heard any other teams playing them away give out so St Micks will just have to suck it up an get on with it. Current holders of Fai shouldn be concernced with who or where they play.

I think its a great price but I wouldn't put a big wad on it. They had a good win over Westport in the Connacht Cup on Sunday and hammered Boyle the week before, so are in good form. But Clonmel away may be a hurdle too high for them, I hope I'm wrong.

St Michaels were knocked out of the Munster Cup on pens by Carrick Utd and drew with Clonmel Celtic in the league the week before. Sheriff seem to be steam rollering over all in Dublin, but maybe the two tough games against good opposition will have St Michaels battle hardened and ready for Sheriff.

Do you know what the story is with the TV coverage deal??

sheriff2
19/03/2015, 2:20 PM
The Tv deal is that extended highlights will be showing on Setanta Tg4 and Irish Tv the game will not be shown live. The main game being Syc and micheals.

The other 3 games about 5 mins of each will be aired also. The draw will take place for the Semi Final directly after the Syc game.

I expect a huge crowd at this one some people here in Dublin predicting 500+

City will fancy there chances I think even away from home.

The other Q finals next weekend expect Northend & Donnycarney to come through.
