I went on an horrendus overspending in my first week. I wouldn't let some Bulgarian beat me in the bidding even though I knew I should have surrendered. Can I survive being 100k in debt? :confused:

all the advise given when you join at the start is that you dont overspend, i couldnt help but do it myself. Not in debt yet but i'm in the low thousands. 1 win in 1 game though, gotta be happy with that.
Does it appear to everybody else that most players up for sale are Belgian or Dutch.

There are a load of Belgians playing it. That's why. I'm selling my best player to clear the debt. James McEvoy. Injured for a few weeks. But only 80k. Hmmm. This game isn't so bad. I'm winning 4-0 in my first real game (I won the first one the day I took over without tactical input). Sadly I have 4 games in a row against the only two teams in the league who have been managing more than a week and their sides are vastly superior. So I am going to lose 4 in a row and possibly quite heavily. I wonder if inferior teams playing catenaccio gives you a chance to hold them to a draw.

Ah good give me some advice then please. I am playing in my next four games sides clearly superior. Basically the only teams with managers appointed prior to this week. Have players with tsi of up to 5,000. What do I do? Can utterly defensive tactics hold them? Or should I give it a go at beating them?

If they have TSI that high then the only solution is damage limitation, I opt for 451 in those cases.

Theres a link i think near start of this thread that brings you to a sight which shows the skills needed for each player type. Will take you a while to go thru player list to get it right.

Buying players take a long time so now in my 2nd season i'm saving lot of cash but no time to spend. I found have buy players in realtime as people come in outbidding you in the last few minutes of particular player sale.

I spent quite a bit of money at the start myself on players and stadium and went bust. I think probably improving your stadium and putting money into your youth players(you can promote one every week) is the best option. You have to start your training aswell, if you keep your training to your formation then your players tsi's will improve.
I hope this is good advise as its still my first season. I dragged my team up from bottom (5 straight defeats, 5-0 cause there was no manager) to 4th last in the league. Next year i'll get to give promotion a proper go hopefully and get my first decent cup run.
Oh ye if you go abroad to play friendlys it costs you money. I'm noot sure if it depends on where you go or how big your oppositions home crowd is. I went to Argentina and it cost me about 7,000

would it have anything to do with the league season ending now ?? I think its most peoples last games of the season this week and then there is a 2 week break before it resumes again so i beleive.

Last years final was postponed & not been re-arranged yet. Can't remember who i was supposed to play.

Best to wait a few weeks before starting as people with better teams could be in hattrick cups for a few more weeks...

Ye, great idea about the Foot.ie cup. I should be out of the Irish Cup in Hattrick next round, unless i pull off a miracle. I won my 1st round game 7-1 and 2nd round 7-0 but i was against teams that dont have managers. Its a bit of a crazy game though cause my Centre Half scored 5 in the latter game.

Foot.ie Cup has been created. At the moment there is only 4 teams accepted but if more people want to take part I will rise it(to 8). The start date is sometime next month but once we get all the teams involved I can change it to the next nearest date! You need to register with cupmanager.org before joining the cup aswell!

Yeah 8 would be perfect. 2 groups of 4 and the top 2 in each group qualify for the knockout stages. :cool:
