Guess we can give him his own thread now? He's ostensibly being signed for the U-21 team but he probably has a decent chance of being given an opportunity under Steve Bruce if he makes good first impressions, as Hull are competing on potentially four different fronts this season.

RB v LB no?
Edit: Aye, it seems he's come in because of a suspension to RB Tony Mc Mahon
"We're short on defenders anyway in the football club but certainly with Tony (McMahon) being suspended we had to move very, very quickly. Thankfully my relationship with Steve meant that we could get the deal done quite quickly," Clark said.

Following in Coleman's footsteps. If he can stand out in such a rancid team it'll really stand to him.

maybe Matt Doherty is being overlooked because he doesn't have his own thread? He is bunched in with the Wolves Irish thread. Had TOWK just bunched Lenihan into the Hull Irish thread we'd have a different rookie full back in the squad.

I was probably reading too much into it.
Not much in the way of opinions about him - negative or positive - but here is what I found.
http://www.backhenrystreet.co.uk/thread-22520.html
"Not really, looked scared to put a tackle in and offered nothing going forward. Mind you after the first half hour he must have wished he was back in Hull's reserve team."
"His 1st professional game in English football I think it is fair to say he will get better."
"Needs to toughen up."
"Was **** at Leeds - but who wasn't."
"Shame. Is McMahon back now or is he still suspended?"
"Did ok v Bolton I thought.... Any improvement on McMahon"

What is the story with Lenihan at the minute? He played for Hull's under-23s back at the end of October (http://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/city-signing-off-wrong-hymn-sheet-despite-the-return-of-the-mac/story-29856129-detail/story.html), but more recent reports (http://www.hullcitytigers.com/news/article/2016-17/team-news-hernandez-in-contention-for-a-return-3504990.aspx) state that he's still on Hull's injury-list.
This was from last October:
Brian Lenihan also made a smooth recovery from his own summer operation but neither player could help extend the Tigers' winning streak in the Professional Development League.

Lenihan played for Hull's under-23s on Monday against Millwall although the game was abandoned after 89 minutes due to a mass brawl breaking out between both sets of players: http://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/hull-city-under-23s-game-with-millwall-abandoned-after-mass-brawl/story-30231685-detail/story.html
Hull had been leading 2-1 at that point.
Lenihan since spoke with the club's website: http://www.hullcitytigers.com/news/article/2016-17/lenihan-ready-to-make-up-for-lost-time-3646393.aspx
I felt like a kid at Christmas to be back out there. The medical staff here have gone above and beyond for me and I’ve worked so hard to get back from this knee injury which has caused me the most trouble. I feel ready now and I feel strong. I just felt so happy to be out on the pitch again.
Meanwhile, Neil O'Riordan reports that Cork manager John Caulfield may be interested in bringing Lenihan back to the League of Ireland if the player isn't offered a new contract at Hull before his current three-year deal runs out at the end of the season, although there would also interest from League One clubs, according to Caulfield: https://www.thesun.ie/sport/football/790261/cork-city-boss-john-caulfield-plans-sensational-move-to-bring-brian-lenihan-back-from-hull-city/

So sad to hear the reason behind his retirement, but if there's anything good in such circumstances it's that he seems to be in a better place right now, and speaking out may just help somebody else somewhere down the line... It takes admirable courage to lay bare those details. I'm sure everyone here wishes him good health and happiness on his journey.

Fair play to Brian. That's a really, really brave thing to do in coming out and admitting what occurred, Especially given how he is "ashamed" of what he did and clearly has had such a tough time dealing with it internally and within his family and friends circle.

That is probably the bravest thing I have ever seen an Irish Player do . Well done that Man . With so much suicide of Men its very admirable that this Young Man is willing to talk about this . I am willing to admit that some weird wattery stuff dripped from my eyes reading that . A lot of people have been affected by suicide one way or another .
Incredibly brave and hopefully inspiring to others who just can't talk.
Brian was one of the most talented youngsters to ever play at Turner's Cross and it's great to hear he enjoyed his time with us. I hope he finds happiness whatever he might go on to do with his life.

It's such an important point to consider in present day football. As someone who has had their travails with mental health, I can only imagine how someone pre-disposed to anxiety or depression would feel in the environment of professional football. I would think that there are so many aspects of the life that are completely incompatible with the mind of someone with such issues e.g. the loneliness of injury recovery, the pressure of the crowd, the criticism for poor performance, the fear of poor performance, the financial aspects, even something trivial as going home early afternoon and having nothing to do for the entire day would be severely impactful (I think Mikey Drennan highlighted this).
As I said, so admirable by Brian and best wishes too him.

Interviewed yesterday on Second Captains by Richie Sadlier for his "Player's Chair" show. Very tough listen, goes into his mental health, what led him to decide to take his life, and how he's dealing with life after football at such a young age
