Many saw this coming. I thought he would be kept on till the end of this season myself. Who do we get in? Mick Cooke?

Edit: Changed title.

Not if you want good football :P

I'd say a good few out there that would take it.

Cooke meh.

Collins will throw his name in the hat I would imagine but we will stay clear of him.

Fenlon is there also but it's risky given his reputation of spending big and clubs going bust. The board would need to be very strong with him with regards spending.

The usual names are there like Mike Kerley.

Internally you have Tommy Barrett.

Ian Barraclough and Gary Stevens

Don't be surprised if mike sheils gets it.

I'd say Tommy would get it before Mick Shiels would.

Mick Shiel can't get it, he's not qualified. (to even manage the 19s)

Gary Stevens is interested afaik, sans Baraclough.

Whatever about Fenlon getting it, we need a Fenlon type character to bring a reign of terror down on a few heads.

There's about a dozen players there who should be dropkicked out the door as well.

Bit of reality from LITD tbf....nothing should surprise in this league, thought though he,d get until the end of the season.potential candidates need that pro-licience or at least need to be going on one do they not?

I believe that a pro licence is a requirement, which would probably mean Tommy can only step in for the short term. Best of luck to him on Friday, hopefully things are better than they have been recently.

No one particularly likes to see anyone lose their job, hopefully Taylor will land on his feet and I wish him well for the future. Judging by the reaction on twitter, he didn't seem to have lost the dressing room...which even makes the sacking a bit surprising.

Some of the players will definitely need to be looking over their shoulder, because any new manager will be clearing house as soon as he gets a chance. Pressure on the board now too to get the right person.

Afaik mike has done and got his A licence.

You'd be wrong there, hasn't even his B Licence according to the Pike lads.

Didn't tommy get his pro-licence only a few weeks ago or am I mistaken?

Still don't think they'd get someone in again that's that in-experienced though.

Fenlon would be perfect for the club as a whole imo.

He fits the bill, LOI experience, proven winner, knows the best LOI players. Main problem is he likes to spend money that most clubs don't have.

I just hope the club move fast for someone. Gives them more time in the transfer window.

He'd my choice, but can we afford him with Taylor's pay off?

Thats the big question but very little point sacking Taylor to go and get a Martin Russell or someone like that who will just keep us exactly where we are imo.

Ya have to agree with you there. No point in going sideways or backwards now.

Paddy Purcell on Twitter: other good news tonight. The bluffer is gone
Stephan Bradley: Yea heard he got sacked alright. Doesn't surprise me one bit he's done well to last this long
Barry Ryan: keep it private lads. Hash tag.

Seems like all the ex players from last season think he is a spoofer but the players there this year say he is great manager.

Thats true, but can we really throw Fenlon €100,000 a year when there is nothing to play for until next season? Whoever comes in only has to do slightly better to ensure survival. I presume the club must have someone lined up if they've sacked him today though.

Wouldn't mind Cooke, Baraclough or Fenlon if a tight enough lease was put on him. Collins must be avoided like the plague. It is inevitable he will become a "contender" by his own mouth.

Martin Russell a contender according to the Sun. Wouldn't mind that.

Would he be anyway a step up or change from Taylor?

Russell will try to play football. Will give yound lads a chance too. Dunno what he'd be like dealing with any big egos thou..
Cooke you'll have the opposite issue, grand team spirit, probably no ego issues, but dire football!

Apparently he's (Taylor) now an U-21 coach at Aston Villa.
