God only knows. I presume he isn't being paid by the club to do whatever it is he is doing.

I think we need to be worrying more about what is going on here like the drop in crowds before exploring other countries.

His CV actually reads like a CIA spook, based in East Germany, diplomas from Exeter and Alicante, involved in the Stanford University Peace Iniative (which looks spookier than a ghost train ride round a haunted mansion on halloween night!)

All utterly bizarre.

Until you have a read of this:

http://projects2977.wordpress.com/

And the fog lifts a tiny bit. (or you just find yourself wading deeper through the bizarre.)

As well as living in Berlin where he likes football and Eastern Europe, the bould Christian is also a managing director of that company from the link, registered in Dayton Beach, Florida.

Intermediaries for Venture Capitalists.

Is the club for sale lads...

I really struggle to see how some German can help our academy. Its not like it is a proper academy like they have at top clubs or anything.

Edit: Never mind LTID has come up with something maybe.

Or hes just going to wear lederhosen and sausages and get them to sell decent beer in Thomond Park. Whatever.

as i said in a previous thread i dont know were the club is going with stupid things like this.i doubt if many germans are even interested in league of ireland football.as one of the lads said it would be better spending time investing more effort in getting the mess sorted with the first team.

This is how the club explained it on the facebook page.

Christian will work with the club to look at new business and sporting partnership opportunities throughout Germany and Eastern Europe. Be that through sponsorship, players or developing partnerships with e.g. Bundesliga clubs on Friendly games here and in Germany.

It doesn't look like that big a deal, they just announced it in a bit too bombastic fashion. "Ambassador" is a bit much.

When I saw this yesterday morning, I honestly thought someone had hacked into the club website.
But it seems to be genuine.
Let's hope it leads to a friendly match or something.

Not really related to this, but this link was posted to on the main forum

"Karl Sheppard looks certain to move. Dundalk, St Pat's and Sligo Rovers (http://searchtopics.independent.ie/topic/Sligo_Rovers) are all interested in the striker, but Rovers will not sell to a title rival. Limerick seem his likeliest destination; Cork City (http://searchtopics.independent.ie/topic/Cork_City) are also contenders for his signature.Meanwhile, Pat Fenlon has been strongly linked to a director of football position at Limerick FC. The former Bohs and Shelbourne manager – who won five League of Ireland titles before being headhunted by Hibs in 2011 – has been out of work since leaving Easter Road last November"

Director of Football? I know it's a rumour, but seriously?

Director of Football my arse - you should never invite a cuckoo into your nest. As for Sheppard, what would he be on at Rovers, would it be similar to what we were paying Curran? If it's anywhere close to that I think we should go all out to sign him; he's a fine player from what I've seen of him and it's not as if we could do without his sort!!!

I wouldn't be surprised if Curran was on more than Shepard. Ya I'd be very uneasy about having Fenlon as director of football. Fair enough he would have good connections in the league and knows this league extremely well but what would his job actually be?

Even forgetting what his job would actually be we are in no position to be wasting money that could be used on players to have someone doing something like that if you want Fenlon in then sack Taylor and bring him in as manager.

If we have any chance of actually getting Sheppard id take him here straight away.

I'd say Cork would be a more likely destination. They have lost Elding, have a few injuries up front and could probably offer more than us wages wise. Agree about spending money. No point in having a director of football if we still can't score goals.

Cork have someone else coming in up front.

Have heard Curran, possibly Graham Cummins and the usual john O'Flynn return.
