The division bottom side visit CCS on Saturday, without a win and with a horrible record of 4 goals scored all season and a GD of -17, dress it up whatever way you like if we arent winning this 2 or 3-0 theres something wrong.

Yeah in all fairness we scored 7 against them last time we played them and if anything they're worse this year. A chance for our forwards in general to get reacquainted with putting it in the net. If Cowan plays I reckon he'll score.

We do not need that to happen or not to happen to know that there is something wrong!

I would prefer us to win but not to hammer Cobh as I believe we would think we only had to turn up against Sheriff on Tuesday,
it will be very interesting to see the team selection over the next few days, we have Cobh on the 17th, Sheriff on the 20th, Waterford on the 23rd, Bohs on the 26th and Shamrock rovers on the 31st, you would normally think we would win all those games but I think he will play at least 9 of the starting 11 in every match, he may decide to forfeit a game like Drogheda last year and play the b/c squad,
the way the team selection is at the moment the only the only squad player who can be confident of playing will be Hunt,
every game now is a must win until De Town close the gap on those above us in the league, but the vital win has to be Sheriff in the semi final

So many games coming up is not ideal but there should be no question of him resting players for these mickey mouse cups. We should be playing our strongest 11 tomorrow and looking to hammer Cobh. He can play a team made up of the weekly Section O astro game on Tuesday for all I care.

If the squad players can't beat a demoralised Cobh (with only 2 points from 9 games) they shouldn't be in the squad,

Am I miss reading you or are you actually suggesting we should play a weakened team tomorrow and save players for a Leinster Senior Cup game?

The League is more important than a Leinster Cup or whatever it's called. The leinster cup should be all about playing the fringe players to give them a bit of game time. Madness to suggest resting players for Cobh so we can play them on Tuesday. Absolute madness!! If you're not careful Darklordsbane the men in the white coats will round for you soon!!

I am not suggesting we rest anyone, I am trying (badly obviously) to point out we have a squad to pick from for just these type of senario's . if Cousins isn't going to give a few players a run out against the bottom team in the league when is he going to do it, I doubt it will be against Sheriff or Waterford and who knows what he will do against Bohs
I would rest maybe 2 different players for each game, that way a lot of players will get game time, it shouldn't affect the team too badly, it would boost morale and give some players a well earned rest, there is also a big risk of injuries playing so many matches so quickly.
I don't believe Cousins will rest anyone except Bennion, I agree the league position is paramount and needs serious addressing but the 2nd team beat UCD so they can't be awful, it would also give some of these guys experience of the pressure of a semi final, hopefully leading to a cup final, mickey mouse or not it's a trophy and or medals, that has to give the team a lift and a bit of belief in themselves
I know Stephen rice and maybe Pat Sullivan have won everything in Ireland but how long is it since the rest of the squad won anything

The Leinster Cup is the time to 'rest' players not league games that we MUST win. Every league game is like a cup final now because we are so far behind. Anyways, we're not half way into the season and players need resting???

Shels, Galway and Wexford all dropped points last night, we really need to be going out and making a statement of intent tonight. The strongest possible 11 (if it's known - debatable) must start in league games. Promotion has to be the only priority on the field this year. We have Cobh twice, Shamrock rovers b and Waterford our next 4 league games. Yes Waterford had a good result last night, but we really should be looking for 4 wins from 4.

A win and only a win should be an acceptable result for tonight.

I would like to see Salmon and Gorman start, it won't happen but I think they would play well together in the mid field, (the report I got from UCD was they were excellent together)
Gorman scored 1 & made 1 in Cobh last year, then scored 2 & made 2 in City Calling last year, I overheard a conversation recently, when Gorman came on as a sub, part of it was "watch Rice not pass to Gorman" I thought I had miss heard because I couldn't believe that would be true, but it was 2 starry eyed girls but they may have a point
Anyway who really cares who plays as long as De Town win ,if it's by 2 clear goals we are back up to 4th with 2 games in hand, win those and it's at worst 3rd place and it is back in our own hands for the league, lots more twists and turns before the season ends I'm sure

Looks like we've gotten what we wanted tonight at least.

As for the LSC, I personally would love us to make the final, the cup isn't worth much, but it's not like we've had a lot to cheer about lately. When you're this deep in a competition you should start taking it seriously. I'm totally fine if Tony rotates a bit thou, anyone who has played in the league Cup or LSC so far this year has shown they deserve chances and I'd fully expect any team we put out to nick a win, but it won't be pretty.

Interesting to see Hunt and Shaw getting the nod tonight, the less we see of Hynes the better, and Paul probably deserves his chance.

How'd ya'll in attendance rate the performance?

It was all too easy really. They offered very little. Sully should have had four or five himself and Shawsy missed a sitter. Overall, it was ok but we never really had to get out of second gear. Largely tried to play the ball on the ground. Minor quibbles would be playing O'Connor on the left wing and Mulhall on the right wing. Neither looked comfortable at all. Highlight of the game was Sully's first, cracking strike.

After seeing the 11 tonight id expect us to set up the same way we did agaisnt ucd for the sherriff game Tuesday with shannon russell and etanda to start and either shaw or hynes up top in a 4231 formation

Yes City Calling on the 26th, Great 3 points last night, strange game but comfortable win and clean sheet, Good to see Noel moved to centre half Sullivan wasn't caught out by balls to his corner of the pitch as he stays in position (mostly)if we win the 2 games in hand it's up to 2nd place 4 points behind Shels with us having to play them twice so it's back in our hands,

That starting XI was incredible last night, players were all over the place. Why suddenly move Sulli out to right full when he's been our top centre half all year? Was it to offer Mulhall protection due to his inexperience? Sulli has lost a yard of pace over the years and didn't get forward half as much as Havo so that's something I'd change. O'connor isn't a winger, Mulhall isn't a winger and why on earth was Paul hunt playing? Was he taking it for granted that we'd beat Cobh? I wasn't half as confident not seeing Benno in goals last night. Hope to see him back in sticks for Waterford.

Every team (to my eyes) has figured out Havo is out of position a hell of a lot at right full, count how many balls go to that corner of the pitch when he goes forward he trots back and is rarely there, he is very good going forward and when actualy in position, I would compare him to Glen Johnson from Liverpool except havo's probably at least twice as good as that tit, I was also glad James Mulhall got a start but I would have had him at rb as well. I thought Hunt had a good game even though he didn't have much to do, that was probably down to the back 4 being so good
