Wasnt aware he had Irish connections. Think we would have heard so by now. Wasnt he Clinton Morrison's replacement when Clint left Palace for Birmingham? Think Andy Johnson is punching above his weight at the moment but it would be nice if we could get hold of a player like that.

Funny how things work out. I'm not sure of the exact figures but I think Clinton has scored less than 10 Premiership goals for Birmingham since he arrived 2 years ago. Johnson has 8 already for a poorer team.

theres plenty of irish player. maybe not as good . but we wouldnt be watering down our irishness then.
i'd prefer to loose games with our own than a hollow victory inspired by some foreigner
like in Stuttgart Pablo?
when a scotsman scored for ireland? the man who says he supports scotland to this day?
yeah just like that

I definitely don't think he is. He scored 28 goals in division 1 last season, there's not many premiership scorers that could do that.
I think it was actually Johnson + £5.5m for Morrison... Crazy.

Why would Liverpool spend that amount on Johnson, when they can get Anelka or Morientes for not too much more? Benitez will buy proven quality that suits his kind of attacking football, Andy Johnson isn't it!
To be honest, i'd prefer to see Elliott given a chance, i'd also loke to see Rory Delap at centre forward - he could be a real find in that position. He's class at set pieces. You've also got McGeady to come, so no need for Johnson.

Johnson could be another Ricketts but he looks a good player at the moment.

Johnson strikes me as another Marcus Stewart-type player. He may hit lots of goals while Palace are doing well but the goals will soon dry up. Does anyone know if he actually has Irish connections or is this thread a waste of time??

Just googled him, checked out the ten sites first listed, they didn't give a whole lot of information on his background, but they all have him as born in Bedford and nationality as english, no mention of irishness at all, also rumours of an England call up to which he responed - that its great to be linked to his country but concentrating on club at the moment - the usual crap. i thinbk its all wishful thinking :(

forget about it lads...from sky sports (http://skysports.planetfootball.com/list.asp?hlid=235343&cpid=219&CLID=31&lid=&title=AJ+ponders+Poland+call)
In-form Crystal Palace striker Andy Johnson is considering playing international football for Poland.
The former Birmingham City hit-man has had an excellent start to the season with The Eagles, scoring eight goals for the Selhurst Park club so far this term.
The 23-year-old's exploits have prompted calls for an England chance, but Johnson is pondering the possibility of playing for Poland.
The player qualifies to play for the Eastern European nation because he has a Polish grandfather, despite already appearing for England at youth level.

We don't need him and my JEN-uine FEE-ling is that he's just a flash in the pan. Fair play to him for the season he's having but the Prime Minister is spot on-just another markus stewart.
Why have you emphasised on the 'JEN' and 'FEE' Don Vito?? I'm lost!
