Unless a replacement is found quickly we are in trouble. Our current strikers do not have enough goals in them to keep us up.

Huge, huge loss. I had heard he was having a few problems with people at the club, not on the playing side either. He'll be a huge loss.
There are rumours about money being the issue, but it's not. Most places had problems with payments last week due to the SEPA holiday, and I know a lot of people at the club didn't get paid either, but it was just a few days behind.
Either way, it's a massive loss to the club, best of luck to him in the future.

The money problems I was told about at the start of the week ( a conversation in which I was told Curran would be leaving) is a lot more than just over a holiday, hope its not true.

I hope you are right kingpin and it's put to bed quick because the rumours are spreading like wildfire at the moment.

As in its a much deeper problem than just the mess with SEPA? I was told he did get his money, but it came the following week, and it happened to quite a few of them.
If it's a much bigger problem, then the season could be about to fall apart.

If its not a money thing (and i find it very hard to believe it is) they need to take whatever wodge he was on and invest it in a striker with a few goals in him. Bit of flair would be nice too draw the crowds back.

Alternatively with Athlone so terrible is there a case to be made for reachin agreements with the cross channel lads in June and cutting your cloth for season??

Also, have to say I'll miss Craig, a bit of a donkey infront of goals but A++ for effort and very very important to how we played.

I obviously won't go into full detail on what I was told on here but basically I was told a worrying story at the start of this week about the players being owed several weeks wages and that Craig Curran would be leaving because of it. Tbh i thought it was bull at the time even though it would be very strange for who told me to make it up but with this news coming out im not so sure its bull anymore.

There is every chance what I was told was bull like and I hope it was.

Surely the pay out to guys like Galbraith, Oji and Williams would cripple us though?

Would depend on how willing they were to leave which i suppose would depend on what kind of options they have across channel!

Was just a thought youd think there ll be a bit of cashflow floating around for those kinda deals after the three home games.

Why would you want to pay off your best players halfway through the season?

Lim till i die
09/05/2014, 1:06 PM
To cut costs would be the obvious reason i suppose.

Like i said just a thought iv seen nothing to suggest its on the cards

Even if it's not strictly necessary, cutting costs eight weeks into the season would have its own ramifications when it comes to recruiting players in the future. Not to mention those players are a major part of the reason you're not down there with Athlone.

Higher uppers. Thought it was clear when I said not on the playing side. Apologies if it wasn't.

He's not the major loss some of ye are making him out to be.ok he works hard and the supply he got may have been poor but 7 goals in almost 30 games is a **** poor return from our lead striker.10 games in this season and he has hardly kicked a ball for us.

I'd say it would be good for people to take a step back here. Even Curran, from that tweet, doesn't seem to be indicating he's out the door for sure. The idea that the club is suffering severe financial woes rings a little false to me, what with the announcements of new training grounds and what have you. I know renting Thomond must be bleeding money for the club given the attendances, but some of the stories going around about wages being in arrears of months seem too unbelievable to me.

Just wait and see I suppose.

shame about curran,in terms of honest effort on the pitch we had a real pro here, had plenty to his game as well...however given the money he was on [or not on]his goal return was quite poor.having previously mentioned concerns over off the field matters and ...events prior to the Rovers game....i and fans generally will be now waiting for that infamous line...here we go again...

I thought the exact same when I was told only thing that made me even mention it was the fact the person that told me said that Curran would be gone and it appears he could be right also they had no reason at all to make it. Hope its all just some mix up.

Not in any way saying its true and wasn't trying to stir up anything when I said what I was told was just hoping someone might have heard more.

Oh I know you weren't reporting it as cast iron fact. We all hear rumours from time to time, and this being the LOI, the poster boy for unpaid wages, its worth discussing.

Massive blow if he goes his overall effort was great , you get the impression since the start of the season all is not well in the camp

It is seeming more like it is just to do with Craig now which while unfortunate would be good news.

I hope Curran isn't gone, but more than anything I hope things are financially sound at the club. We need a decent goal-poacher in and to try to consolidate our position in the league again this year. Anything else, on top of financially stability, would be too much to hope for right now.

Still no update from the club?

Jofspring
13/05/2014, 4:31 PM
I would imagine a statement will read something along the lines of "Craig Curran has left Limerick FC by mutual consent. Craig has been a good servant to the club and fast became a fans favourite at the club over his time here with his hard working performances. We would like to wise Craig the best in the future". I'll be very surprised if we get any more info than that.

What jof said.

In the meantime, lets amuse ourselves with wild speculation on the new manager should Taylor go to Tranmere. (based on nothing else than a Sligo fan taking the **** on the main page)

I say give it to Mike Kerley.

Statement On Craig Curran

Limerick Football Club are aware of supporter and media questions pertaining to the current status of Craig Curran and are keen to answer them, but at this juncture we feel we cannot do so having sought legal opinion.

As of this afternoon, Craig Curran is a registered Limerick FC player. As soon as the club is in a position to make a full and open statement, we will do so. In the meantime, the club is preparing for Friday night’s vital home match against high-flying Dundalk FC and we need your support.

Date: Wednesday 14 May 2014

Legal advice? So either Craig or the club have brought something against the other. Makes sense that Curran has said he can't talk about it, but doesn't do much to clear things up or raise spirits any bit.

As long as it isn't money, cash flow matters, and it increasingly seems it isn't, I am fairly relaxed about the why's of this one.

What are the chances of signing a replacement?

Going to be very hard to get one in at this stage unless we can get someone on loan. If we sign someone they won't be available till July.

It would be the same with a loan would have to be a free agent for us to sign em before the window is open.
