haven't been to terryland in years , so long that i used to remember the big shed they had there.

What kind of home crowds do united get ?
what about away support ? Is it any good?

Living in london I see that the EL is getting better. there seems to be great colour at games with teams bring all types of flags etc along. Do United supporters do this ?

Utd appear to be just like my local team at the moment (Spurs) ...mid table mediocre ...any chance of getting out of this division ? What would be needed ?

Just interested in hearing what its like....

well that terryland is gone for good now. see www.galwayunitedfc.ie.

As always the home crowd depended on how well the team were doing, so in saying that obviously there was a bad turn out this year, like many others. On average i would guess maybe 500-600 per match. :o

Away support is never good, the usual 20-30 always go, bar now that there is nothing to play for. You can be sure though that you'll always hear them ! :)

The colours you'd see mainly at terryland anymore is grey and black and a bit of maroon, so yes there is plenty of certain colours ! ;)

What is needed for GUFC to get out of this division is a new manager with fresh ideas (not a local junior manager but one with EL experience) and spend a little money on players that are used to the senior levels of the irish soccer seen (again its a big jump between local junior soccer and EL soccer).

There was an announcement a while back that there would be an open forum soon! Well, from what I heard, the forum was held (behind closed doors) and the only thing that I have heard from it is that a plan has been put i place to have GUFC running as a full-time club by the 2007 season :D

See is believing though

jaysus , that is very low indeed. For a catchment area of 120k or so that is really abismal. Some serious cash needs to be injected into the club by the sounds of it. Pity the Likes of Supermac or some other local entrepreneur has no interest in soccer.

saw Salthill Devons setup ....looks fantastic ...fairplay to them!

20-30 , this is laughable really . fair play to the 20-30 but with support like that , the club can almost forget it .

I remember I saw the plans (early 90's) for the redevelopment of terryland . I suspect it's still a far cry from what they have now?

I.e Cash and loads of it , an injections like Shamrock Rovers have just receive is the ticket I'd say.

With gates like 600-700 eevry second week , I sincerely doubt it.

Merchandise appears to be a bit of a joke. i was looking to buy a galway united jersey recently and it appears as though there are none for sale????? Is this a joke? Look at the number of Galway GAA jersies there are about the place.

I buy at least 1 jersey, if not 2 in the Spurs Superstore. Okay GUFC are a far cry from that, as is any club in Ireland , but even a small stall at games to sell stuff like this should be an option.....check out the merchandise for any club in the very low etchelons of England.

It appears as though the EL , while a few improvements have happened in Dublin clubs is still so far away from other developed countries it beggers belief.
See is believing though

GUFC need a Sugar Daddy Big Time.

I have had a dream, i'm gonna make it big ...Abrahamovich style!

Come back to Galway....and invest big time in GUFC.

Starting with buying in a team of stars....they can name their price.

Win promotion , win the FAI CUP and win The Uefa Cup in the first season.

In the meantime, Terryland will be completely redevoped into an 60k all seater....and casino complex

And not only will it be the home of GUFC, but also be the venue for Euro Cup finals ...champions league etc.

There will be free buses from every nook and Cranny of Connacht to all the home and away games!

Free Merchandise to get things started.....scarves, jerseies etc.

GUFC will float !

Salthill Devon will be the feeder club for any local talent worth it's salt .

As a present to the GAA boys I will aslo fund and sponsor all Galway GAA teams .

I will dump ooodles of cash into all team sports in the city.

and then I will wake up and it wil be time to go to work.

Fcuk it Anyway! :-)

once we get out of this stinking division we're back in business. The club has more potential than most, 3000 crowds were a thing of the not too distant past, and Terryland was a kip then.
